I let my Rein get attacked unbuffed and he survived with around 10 hp.

You really don't need a full cav team. Make it easier with a dancer, rein, one more cav with goad and then maybe a second dancer. Rein will literally one-round most enemies especially if he is in range of a goad. However I was lucky enough to pull a +atk rein so there's that to take into consideration. Luna is probably a necessary special if you don't have it already.

IIRC one of the few kills Rein missed out on was a Genny on a def. tile only because he may have not been in range of his goad buddy at the time.
