What I love about Ruby is that she's SUPER cute, shy, and loves idols as much as her sister Dia. And her "Ganbarubii" makes my heart race every time she says her catchphrase! I've grown to love her more than most of the girls in Love Live Sunshine, especially Hanamaru, You, and Mari. If you ask me who my favorite first year from Sunshine is, it's Ruby all the way. If you were to ask me who my favorite girl overall is in Sunshine, my other favorite girls are Hanamaru, You-chan, and Mari. Overall, Ruby's cuteness and her catchphrase caught my heart most of all, more than Hanamaru's "Zura", more than You-chan's "Yousoro" catchphrase, and Mari's English! Ruby will always be my #1 girl for Sunshine, and will NEVER drop a rank in my list. And she's also grown to be in my Top 10 girls overall in the anime franchise. They are, in order:

Like how does it feel to know that in just 24 hours Nozomi Toujou is not only going to make a comeback and score #1 (or at least rank in the top 3) in the election but will forever prove to be the dark horse fan favorite of the franchise and truly cement her status as one of the most beloved characters in the entire series? I always ask myself: how did she do it? How did what could have been just another idol character ended up being one of the best written characters not just of idol franchises but of all of anime and manga? A character that single handled outshined every single member of her group very easily? I would even go so far as to say she deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Asuka of NGE and Homura of Madoka Magica as some of the most complex and best written female characters of all time.
And you know what I realized? It isn't just because of how great her character ended up being, it's also the fact that the rest of μ's is so inconsistently to downright poorly written that it only made Nontan look even better in comparison. Like seriously, for a series that tries so hard to claim that all 9 girls are a team important, I've never seen a more imbalanced and lackluster group in terms of character depth and personality traits.
