I'd just use whatever is the highest dps you can get your hands on but high aspd scales better with added damage from other sources like gear, gems, heralds, auras. Last Resort is a really nice claw to start with and it will easily take you to level 20 with some other gear.

I think it might actually, and if you run a sword build and grab the nodes by the ranger, you get even more poison chance. Problem is you cna't scale the poison damage like this as far as I know.

You just need to scale fire/elemental in this case since Volkuur turns your poison based from physical or chaos into pure fire scaling

the crit poison with the lyco is the only decent build with 1mil+ dps. Shame no other build wirh it seems to come close, and you're locked into claws.

Not talking about leveling with it but using it after lv 70+ for mapping, without good gear and plenty of points to spend on the tree

Its definitely usable if you get a proper setup, not as strong as it once was but itl do its job. Just have to watch out for one shotting yourself to offscreen reflect.
