This feels like a case where their talent could probably be tied to lying somehow, like they have to deal a lot with people who lie which makes their job and life more difficult which leads to them not wanting to deal with that shit any more than they have to. Or just a more personal backstory reason.

I guess deciding the basic character stuff has a big impact on how the spite aspect of the character would read. An angry loli is a completely different thing from an angry big guy.

I was thinking of a more personal backstory reason where something serious related to them happened in the family, and their entire family (including their parents who taught them never to lie to people in the first place) kept them out of the loop on purpose.
