Well, I've been giving it a lot of thought. Having a ritualpost that just says Aoi is best girl while my favorite female Dangan is Sakura feels a little disingenuous. Aoi is still my favorite survivor from all the games, and she's wonderful, but calling her best girl just because Sakura is dead isn't really fair.

There’s a difference between having a similar story role and having similar characters. There’s definite parallels between them in terms of what plot points they occupy but they’re definitely not the same characters.

Yeah, but they do have personal traits in common, or else they wouldn’t have done such similar things. They’re both smart, they’re both schemers, they’re both manipulative, they’re both great at reading people, and they both have difficulty forming genuine connections with others even though some part of them does want to. That’s just off the top of my head.

I get that they’re not the same character, and I understand that Oumafags are defensive due to the “Komaeda 2.0” label. But lately I’ve been seeing Oumafags claim that if you think the two have anything in common you’re insane and you can’t read, which is amazingly stupid. Clearly, you’re supposed to compare Komaeda and Ouma, or there wouldn’t be such obvious parallels.
