not sure if that's Ellen or Aya also who's below Mary
Nathaniel Brooks
What kind of gimmicks would a wind mage have? Also good night bump, I'll see the replies if any in the morning.
Matthew Hughes
He wants to help but he only manages to push people away.
Owen Mitchell
I want to be lazy and use premade assets, then later add my own
Thomas Price
2017 it's almost over so here we go with the mandatory question What's the the best rpgmaker games you played this year? Bonus points if you mention any 2017 released games, I guess.
Dominic Robinson
He can blow dry people's hair
Brayden Adams
speed/agility/evasion buffs winds so sharp they can actually cut shit being able to pick up enemies with their wind magic and then dropping them from super high up increasing the cutting power of weaponry, so perhaps general attack buffs too, or ones limited to characters using bladed weaponry? summoning fucking TORNADOES to wreck a particularly nasty enemy's shit
just to name a few...
Julian Morris
stop
Joseph Ross
other than my friend's rpgs, a few days ago i picked up demon legacy which is the first rpg maker game that i've actually bothered to play for more than a hour and the story is actually really reminiscent of the rpg's that me and my buddy have created, definitely will finish it and then proceed on to phantom legacy
Alexander Barnes
Are those someones sprites? I'm incredibly jealous of them because they're really good and if I was that good at art I'd make so many porn games.
Sebastian Roberts
Last Dream, it's not super good or anything but I like it. I like it a little less now that I know how much of the assets are stock assets though.
Juan Roberts
How can I make a skill that doesn't hit the enemy the turn it's used, but 2 turns later?
Dominic Clark
That's Aya to Viola's right. She's holding Snowball the rabbit. The one in the bottom left hiding in the cupboard/closet, right below Mary, is Hiroshi, from the game Ao Oni.
Tyler Evans
What do you mean by sprites? Because that's just a fanart with characters from different games. Most of those do have really nice art though.
Cameron Lee
Are 5 skills for each class too little? there are 9 classes. You can upgrade the skills...
Ryder Cruz
With nine classes, I think 5 is plenty, especially if you're upgrading them. Speaking of, how are you handling your skill upgrade system?
Jaxon Thompson
Ok, so I was trying to make something like what you asked with two variables and two common events, but it turns out that common events set to parallel process can't run during battles. Why is that? Why put such a limitation in?
Dominic Anderson
After beating Knights of Pen and Paper 2, I'm going to say "Absolutely not."
It's a 6-hour game, you can unlock all 4 of your skills in the first 15 miuntes, and the upgrades are spreadsheet garbage (+4 damage/+2% chance to stun/etc). It doesn't help that half the skills for any given class are useless, leaving you with 2 skills worth upgrading (they balance the game around this fact, since any skill can be upgraded more than ten times). I did not enjoy spamming the same two skills and upgrading them for 6 hours.
Christopher Wilson
Yanfly's learn skill system. Just create as many versions of one skill as levels there'll be.
Austin Bell
Just to add variation to skills.
Xavier Ward
well, in my project every class has unique skills that should be used in different situations. Every skill has its use. And all skills behave differently.
Caleb Miller
Uh, geez. It's not like any of them are memorable.
Also I playtest a bunch of homo games for you gays last month. Which one was your favorite? YOU'RE WELCOME BTW!
Kevin Hill
The only ones I played and finished are Space Funeral and OFF. I've played Lisa, but couldn't continue playing. I just find it really boring...
Well, I know what sprites are, specifically in the context of rpg maker. I was a bit confused by the question "Are those someone's sprites?" because those aren't even remotely sprites. I would've understood if the question referred to something like pic related, but the image in the OP is a fanart and you can't see what the original sprites are like, just the overall design of the characters.
I don't even know.
Mason Davis
Oh boy. Who wants to explain this one?
Hunter Jones
It moves.
I haven't played that many games, though.
Joshua Barnes
I wonder how the art community will ever get past the tracing issue. Lots of great music(ians) rip straight from older songs, but the same practice is complete sin in the drawing world. Certain chord progressions from jazz songs become "jazz standards". Certain drum loops and samples are just straight copy-pasted, and then built on. Certain melodic riffs/licks are copied as well.
No idea. It certainly seems more active than the summer. I thought rpgmg (and RM in general) was going to be dying off for good, but I'm glad it's still around.
Aiden Evans
bought this a while back and never touched it. gonna be without internet for a bit and figured I'd give it a shot. Any good starting point?
Jack Peterson
By pressing B to blow?
1. Already implemented! 2. I guess that would be implied, yea 3. Good idea I'll try to implement that 4. I'll see if I can work that in too 5. Yeah, I'm planning on that one, ha.
keep'em comin if ya got more though.
Jason Johnson
Which version?
Easton Sanders
How the hell can I target more than 1 enemy with a skill without targeting all enemies? And please, without yanfly's plugins...
Levi Edwards
What's wrong with Yanfly's plugins?
Benjamin Barnes
>Wind leg Imagine a miniature tornado wrapped around your foot or ankle, spinning at an incredible speed. >Blow Like in final fantasy six, the ability to blow away and entire group of enemies
Anthony Sanchez
How do I make a bind system similar to Etrian Odyssey without completely ripping it off?
Easton Perez
Why did they draw Enoch but not Sucre?
Christian Barnes
0-3 music player 4-6 bugfix 7-9 homogenize more menus
Blake Watson
Play more RPGs and rest assured that nothing after 1999 is original.
Logan Cooper
That's not Enoch though, it's Zacharie.
Cameron Kelly
Wait, who's bottom right?
Camden Campbell
The bald one? That's Ogre/Onigawara, depending on the game (Mad Father/Misao).
Luis Jones
Do you think good character development can excuse a weak plot?
Jayden Sanchez
Yes. But first tell us what you think "plot" means.
Charles Bell
Lots of rpgs have a weak plot. Most of them revolve around an "ancient evil that has awakened, and only you, the chosen one, can defeat it." Literally a billion games like this. But quite a few actually became very popular. So yes, it's possible to have a bland basic plot and still be considered a good game (to some),.
Charles Bennett
I guess that's part of the reason games like Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley become so popular.
John Ortiz
Are harvest moon characters really that great? They seemed like standard anime cliches last time I played.
Oliver Hernandez
people care more about characters than plot
Tyler Walker
Imagine that, people care about people.
Ethan Rodriguez
Not sure what other party members you have, but if you have like a 'Soaked' or 'Drenched' or implication that they're sopping wet, can change that to a more frozen state to combo with any other ice casters.
Similarly can buff any ongoing fires for any firecasters.
Silences and blinds too, more status effects from forcing their voices to not be heard, whipping sand into eyes. etc
Blake Brooks
Here happens the same as with those "writers" who doesn't read anything because they are "writing" their first novel Wink wink.
Jordan Lewis
buuuump
John Phillips
How would you implement a detective agency system like Suikoden's, where you can investigate characters? Right now I just have a cluttered mess of nested choices and conditional branches, and I was wondering if there was anything simpler.
Camden Brooks
The one that allows me to do something similar is the area of effect plugin. But it's centered on an enemy, rather than an area. So if I want to make a spell that only targets 2 enemies, I won't be able to do that with enemies that are surrounded by other ones. The skill will always target 3 enemies at the same time. I'm using first person battles, btw
Camden Bell
Could you explain how this detective system works?
Xavier Gomez
You would select a character to investigate, and the detective would leave for a short while. After a certain amount of ingame time passes, he'd come back with some information on the character. Mostly lore or small character development stuff. You can investigate the same character three times to get all their information. I can do it right now with eventing and choice/conditional branch nesting, but it's a complete mess.
Landon Evans
Are you using variables? Post your event and we might can improve it.
Lucas Parker
use the step counter.
Tyler Richardson
That should help. I'll give it a try.
Matthew Phillips
Nothing went like it was suppose to today. That's ok. I can finish off my game instead. Satisfaction will be mine. No expectations there, no disappointed. You know what? I've decided I'm already done with my game. Yep. Really sending 2017 off in style.
Brody Diaz
Ok. So my current plan of life includes making a commercial lewd game and then moving on to making non-lewd non-commercial games for at least four years or so. Mostly because I have more ideas for non-lewd games.
Patreon thus seems like a terrible idea, unless I want to be as hated as the shills who take years to release shit games that could be finished in a couple weeks, to milk them Patreons.
So, what about Steam? What is Steam's policy regarding lewds? Would a lewd RPG Maker game with CGs removed be able to sell on Steam? And if so, what would be the expected sells?
Nolan Thomas
lewds on steam = enjoy your ban
Colton Stewart
>Would a lewd RPG Maker game with CGs removed be able to sell on Steam? Yes, there are some censored H RPG gamer games on Steam for a few bucks.
Parker Watson
>Patreon thus seems like a terrible idea, unless I want to be as hated as the shills who take years to release shit games that could be finished in a couple weeks, to milk them Patreons. Patreon is fine as long as you don't actually become one of those devs that never release their game. If you're going to be consistently releasing games over that time period, you'll be fine. Just don't announce a game until you start actively working on it; having a list of your upcoming games might seem like a good idea at first, but will inevitably lead to people donating just for that game and then complaining when their donations don't suddenly push that game to the top of your workload.
>Would a lewd RPG Maker game with CGs removed be able to sell on Steam? That shit's been going on for a couple months at this point with some of the Japanese RPGM h-game circles so it's fine.
Cameron James
So green. I'm going to miss you all when your christmas vacation ends.
Made a statue last night, have no idea how the stand should looks like
Easton Parker
This statue has a great backstory.
Ian Diaz
Now this is one I am willing to roll.

Can I put ads in RPGmaker MV?
Henry Rodriguez
You could but why would you?
Bentley Peterson
To advertise? I guess there are probably better ways of getting money though.
Luke Williams
Please excuse the black flash, still learning how to use our new recording software. He has arrived.
Angel Sanders
Well, actually I have no idea if you are allowed to do so. It's not like putting a spot from Coca Cola in your game will magically give you money. First I would talk to the legal department of Kadokawa/Enterbrain and/or Degica and if they say you can do that then I would contact whatever company you want to advertise for. Sounds like a lot of hassle and probably will cost you money in some way or the other.
Chase Sanchez
I meant annoying pop-up ads where I don't even know whats being advertised.
Nathan Parker
Which MV dlc have new battle back?
Ian Powell
Both possible and legal. Easier method would be to make a browser game in MV and embed it on your website. Have ads on the website instead of making them game interrupting
Adrian Ramirez
bump
Julian Murphy
I have a few tornado like skills already but I'll keep it in mind. Also an escape from battle ability huh? Alright I can do that.
Oh dang, all great ideas! I'll be workin on these too soon.
Thanks for the ideas so far everyone!
Tyler Phillips
I have spent entire 12-hour days just working on a single map. I've been working on this spooky hospital for three days now. Is this normal?
Kayden Torres
Post your spooky hospital
Carson Sullivan
I'll post it when I'm happy with it, which isn't now. Plus, I used a lot of doodads that don't really show up in the editor, so I'm not sure how to make a screenshot of the actual map as intended.
Lucas Smith
boop.
Leo Wright
>posting it when you're happy with it So you're never gonna post it?
Charles Jackson
No
Jayden Long

It's steam day and you now have to post your score before you buy any games from the steam sale.

Does anyone know where and how I can download some more tilesets for MV? I don't mind the provided sets so much, but I'd love more to work with.
