Yeah I tried making my first build in DS3. I thought a tank build would be cool but I keep hearing it's not worth it. I think I'm gonna start over with a Warrior and use a hammer or axe.

stoneplate rings are good in pve and greatly outclass armor there if you don't need the poise

you can make turtles and traders, but not really tanks in the traditional sense

pretty much just because it does jack shit damage. the WA is super cool and so is the powerstance but the dagger throws will be doing absolutely nothing. like maybe 30-40 if a lot of them hit. it's really depressing, because I wanted to like them a lot and they were one of the weapons I was really excited for. Very bloodborney.
estoc is still a powerhouse, rapier has 130 built in critical which is way cool if you're good at parries, but it's on the short side. either one is really nice. wouldn't recommend a thrusting sword for invasions though, if that was what you were doing. for the duel after you kill all their phantoms, sure, it's fine, and they're good at finishing people.

if you just wanna pve I'd say go estoc just for being the bestoc. you also might consider ricard's.

Is Mugenmonkey unupdated or something? Because It shows the quills as doing pretty similar damage to rapiers and estocs. At 40 dex with sharp infusion it has 374 and estoc has 370 and rapier 348

Think about it, how could anyone possibly know that herald is the last firekeeper? Parts of the world are overrun by hollows and fire keepers could be hiding or scattered about. The cleric in 3 was a failed firekeeper so perhaps they meant no successful known fire keepers.

Mainly talking about the Souls series, is there any other games which give me such a variety of places to go, with good atmosphere like 1? I know it gets linear after O&S but the start is just so nice and the game is so comfy.

Dragon's Dogma doesn't have environments that are quite as varied, but it did give me a similar experience at some points where you have to make a long trek from the hub city to the ends of the map, and those feel like nice long journeys. I really liked those, and it has a decent focus on exploration where you can discover some decently hidden spots. I remember there's a small beach hideout under a cliff that's a bit difficult to find but it's comfy as hell.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night and Salt & Sanctuary are the first to come to mind. I personally haven't played Super Metroid enough to know how varied it is.

Dragon's Dogma is also a pretty good choice. The customization is pretty nice as well and height/weight/arm and leg length actually affect things such as reach, wind resistance, stamina recovery, and how deep you can go in water before your lantern goes out.

How do you feel about more traditional dungeon crawlers? While the main variety in area are the different strata as you go through the game, Etrian Odyssey might be nice if you want to have a giant mega-dungeon to explore.

I know I’ll get shit on for this but Witcher 3 perhaps might work for you. It has atmosphere and a wide world with lots of beasts and knight combat.
However, id say that like most games, it’ll never compare to DS. There’s something about how buggy, low budget and artificially confusing these games are that make them perfect and replay able for years. Just pray Miyazaki keeps milking the title and makes 4, pray hard

I don't think it was ever explicitly spelled out that Emerald Harold was the last firekeeper. And besides that the game took place in Drangleic which is not relevant to DS3. She could be "the last firekeeper" in Drangleic but there's a whole world out there even if we only see Lordran and Drangleic in the first two games and in 3 we travel through Lothric, which combines Lordran, Drangleic and other lands.

Any ideas for a fun build for mostly pve? Don't have the dlc yet, I've done str pyro and dark, any fun weapons for dex int or fai?

Yeah. Your arms change your attack reach, your legs change how deep you can go before your lantern goes out because it's at your waist, and your weight changes wind resistance as well as how much a harpy struggles when trying to carry you.
Dragon's Dogma's original ambition was fucking huge but ultimately was too much to get done, hence the game being what it is now. If the general is still alive, you might either be able to find posts of it or you can just ask. Also fashion is really fun. You get both underclothes such as chainmail or a gambeson while getting different kinds of plate and stuff to put over it. Also helmets with visors have them put up when in the main town so you can still see your character's face.

I'm not very experienced in most adventure game titles desu, I mainly played the typical multiplayer games all my life and only played DaS a few years ago and got into DaS3 just this winter. Have played Skyrim, Witcher 2, Dragon Age. Some Devil May Cry and Final Fantasy when I was a kid.

Want to experience a world now, and with DaS3 I just felt like I was min maxing everything, whereas DaS1 it didn't feel like it mattered that much on first playthrough.

And I love finding a zone on my second playthrough for example I didn't even know the great hollow existed.

I think something like that could be semi doable like Bloodborne's Yharnam still has a semblance of sanity among a lot of the residents you can talk to through doors and windows in the first phase of the night although the townsfolk are out in full force to kill you.
