The problem is that American culture dictates that once someone becomes sufficiently wealthy and powerful, they'll turn on their fellow Americans and abuse them, their property, and the lands that they share together. That's why libertarianism is flawed, because there's nothing to hold back the people at the very top. If you think that the people on top are making a constant drive towards human progress you're an absolute sheep. They want to poison your river and enslave your child in their factory.

No, Ayn Rand expressly disavowed anarchism, describing it as rule by mafia kingpins. Throughout her career she never doubted the importance of a government, merely one that, to use a saying from Atlas Shrugged, "has a wall of separation between commerce and state".

Ayn Rand considered herself an Objectivist and nothing else. She was disdainful of any other label.

You obviously must not know what that statement means. When referring to "all men are born equal" it means that they are born with having legs and arms and heads not that hey are on par with us proper people.

Where is the line between libertarianism and just classical liberalism? Even libertarians want the state services to exist to some extent, but how much of it is still libertarian?

I never doubt the cruelty and stupidity of humans.

But I also never doubt the humanity of humans.

Humanity is a genetic fact, not a medal of honor you get to bestow arbitrarily to people you like.

Also I'm really not getting why/how you expected Sub-Saharan Africa to develop at the same rate as, say, Europe, which had a moderate climate, plentiful resources, and the ability to trade easily with North Africa/The Mediterranean, the middle east, and Asia.

Sub-saharan africa had none of these things. Polynesian cultures had none of these things. Isolation results in slow growth of culture/technology. It also disincentivizes a lot of the behaviors conducive to a well-connected civilization. This has less to do with a person's "worth" than it has to do with your civ rolling a 1.

What kind of government intervention?

Safety regulations? Environmental regulations? Tarrifs on foreign goods? Wage caps? Minimum wage? Safety net? Taxes? Public schooling? Police? Firefighters?

Libertarians always talk about less government but they really suck at the specifics.
