Is Overhaul worth it if the only thing I really like the sound of is seasons? Do those even work well themselves? Is Omniswing any less buggy than it used to be? Is Thorium still the only good content mod?

Are any of the RPG mods any good? Interested in something a little specialization oriented or grindy that doesn't totally break the game
Nathaniel Miller
Kalciphoz's RPG mod. It's broken all to hell in multiplayer but works just fine in single player
Oliver Perry
What the main interface looks like. The I, II, III tabs = 3 tabs for 3 inventories worth of items
Levi Flores
Experience and Classes is okay if you want to feel some sense of progression, but it gets broken very quickly in hardmode because of how much experience you get. Still fun though. Leveled changes the game quite a bit by enforcing a specific progression, I haven't played it after the latest rebalancing though so I don't know how much easier it got. It's also nice if you like bigger numbers. Haven't played with VapeRPG yet but it has an interesting Diablo-like system where items you find or craft get random bonuses so I want to give it a go one day. Kalciphoz seems very good but I haven't gotten over my laziness to try it yet.

Reading through the thread apparently he fixed that and never updated his OP. It does have bugs with Thorium's Bard and Abyssion though.

I understand how off overhaul feels at first (I immediately deleted it the previous time I installed it) but it's amazing how well it actually works once you get used to it. Rolling is actually very useful and fun to use and integrates well into the game, it neither makes the game easier or harder. Now instead of spamming attacks you're encouraged to charge them up and time them well enough to hit enemies with high damage since movement speed affects the damage output. Not trying to sound like a shill here, but it's incredibly fun to run as fast as you can, jump off a wall, land on top of a zombie and confuse it, all the while charging your attack land it on the other mob of zombies and take them all out at once. I mostly played melee though, so don't have much of an idea on gunplay and magic yet.

Is there a mod that lets you disable crafting recipes for items from other mods?

Forgot to add, it needs to work in multiplayer and remove chosen modded crafting recipes for all players

Qol?

Quality of life. Things like holding shift to use different tools without selecting them. Or holding shift to change the behavior of some things, like platform, without having to do additional steps to achieve it. It's things that make your life better while not affecting gameplay. If you have to click through 5 menu items just to open your inventory, that's bad game design, so a mod that adds a dedicated inventory button would be a qol mod.

I really dig this morbid Zen garden, though I gotta ask how did they get the banners floating like that? TEdit or teleporter bug? (If telebug hadn't been fixed already)
Brayden Martin
It is a large expert world with all walls replaced with spider walls. You're able to hammer them away at spawn to build a base and a safe spot. Progression shouldn't be hindered, so the biome undergrounds, the dungeon and Hell were not changed. No idea how it is in hardmode, never got that far.
Joseph King
Those are Rulick's Banners were made on TEdit The pillar ones were made with teleporters, but that has been patched yes
Nolan Cox
Let me go through my modlist. >Very Short Respawn Time Because respawn time sucks on Expert. Shortens it to 5 seconds and 7.5 seconds during a boss fight because fuck staring at a screen instead of playing. >Wireless/Teleporters Unchained Just so you don't need to extend wires across the map. TU has a rather expensive recipe and can only be made after fucking Plantera, which makes it worthless in my opinion, but I guess it depends on your tastes. >Colored Damage Types Colors damage types so you find weapons relevant to your playthrough faster while scrolling through items. Also makes damage pop-ups colored based on their damage type. >Vending Machines Lets you kill NPCs to make vending machines out of them (they'll still respawn later). Recipe for the dagger that lets you get their soul needs a Guide Voodoo Doll so it should take a little bit of time I guess. I find this mod to be a must-have because fuck dumb NPCs. >JPAN's Bags of Holding Bags that automatically collect things you pick up, depending on the bag type. Can be combined after getting the tinkerer and way later in hardmode, I forgot when. The coin bag picks up the imkSushi tokens, which helps a fuckton. They usually need to be in your accessory slots to work, but I recommend going to its config and letting them work in your inventory. >Old One's Forgery Lets you craft Old One's Army items. Fuck that event. >Buffed damage over time debuffs Makes the on fire and such debuffs actually useful. Holy shit. You need to play with this mod for a bit to see for yourself how much of a difference it makes. >Better Buffs Makes buff icons dim down with a progress bar as they run out, also lets you click a buff to reuse the potion that gives them or shift+click a buff to automatically reuse it when it runs out. >Wormholes Creates random portals in the world, that lead to random portals elsewhere. Pretty fun. Also lets you make Scrolls of Town Portal, you should know how useful those are.
Aiden Myers
Continued. >Item Stats+ Shows how much of a bonus your gear setup is giving your items in a more convenient way. >Wood Armor Bonuses Gives wood armor a reason to exist. >Visual Radar Having a radar (or the things you make with it) shows mob icons directly on the screen, so you can have an idea of where mobs are instead of just knowing there are x of them around you. >Player Health and Mana Bar Shows your HP/MP bars under your character. Surprisingly useful. >No Text Pulse Removes that pulsing effect from all text in the game. You'll know what I'm talking about when you try to read a long item description holy shit. >Unleveled Gives you a better HP/MP gui, has quite a few skins and customization options. Also plays familiar sounds when at critical HP. >VeinMiner Lets you mine all connected ores by digging away one of them. Saves an infinite amount of time.
Caleb Russell
what's the appeal of this game? serious question.. i'm 20 hours in, exploring caves and digging away finding the same shit over and over again.. and besides a few cubicles for the traders and to store the stuff you'll never use or have no idea what it's for, what's the point of base building if enemies are never going to attack it?
this game is basically motherload.. it's fun but how do you play this for hundreds of hours withour getting bored? am i missing something?

I've been thinking about how to change my gear setups to make Skeletron and WoF easier on expert servers where I'm the only experienced player & everyone else has only played the game for
Chase Morgan
How about a more expensive way to reforge that guarantees the next stage up, maybe requiring some kind of material or something. This might necessitate a reworking of the prefixes so that they're more linear, though.
Cameron Russell
...
Nathan Watson
Bee's aren't that good vs Skeletron. The bees give enemy invincibility just like piercing weapons, and do terrible damage due to expert defense. When more than two players uses bees, the number of projectiles creates also can cause desyncs, in addition to blocking out damage. Against Skeletron, the best strategy is probably just frost arrows with Bee's Knees or Molten Fury.
Jack Gray
Great points. It's funny that I forgot about frost arrows considering how heavily I rely on them in the very early game.
Ayden Taylor
Would be great for hard to obtain items, not so much for tools, low level items or accessories. And having to gamble for these is still a chore.

The game isn't "balanced" around you having optimal forges(which make a huge difference) at every stage. Considering how early you can unlock him and how easy it is to come by gold there really isn't much that can be done without resorting to RNG rerolls. It's an intentionally annoying system.
Anthony Reed

>exploring caves and digging away finding the same shit over and over again.. Go to a different biome. Chest contents are based on which biome that chest is in. What you find on the surface is different from what you'll find underground or in the jungle or in tundra or under water... you get the idea.
Don't stay in one area. Explore, grab a few hearts, open a few chests, get some ore for crafting upgrades and move on.

You're a fool if you think getting friends will solve all your problems. Also, nobody wants to be friends with a sad loner who feels like shit all the time and complains he has no friends. Walk before you run.
