Yet even under all that the quality of life was still better than the starving socialist shitholes that surrounded them like Venezuela, really makes you think

Why don't you mention the massive GDP growth during his rein? Because you're an actual communist from Reddit on a raid here, right?

to cause butthurt on Veeky Forums

There was virtually no net GDP growth during his first nine years, kek

Yeah about that...

>Suffer 300% inflation and devastation from Allende years
>1980s crisis being a worldwide phenomenom

It's impressive that curve looks as good as it does to begin with.

No country in the continent was hit as hard as Chile during 1982, precisely because of Pinochet poor policies.

To fix the poverty, crime and corruption prevelant under Allende.

>precisely because of Pinochet poor policies.

You mean the liberalization of the market which ended up creating the boom in the 90's that shot Chile's economy far past it's neighbors?

If the cold war hadn't ended in the best posdible moment i'd agree that would have sucked, but the neoliberal experiment was the right gamble in hindsight.

Protect U.S. business and imperial interests in Chile.

But I'm sure this will be drowned in a sea of "cuck" "commie" "redditor" and "globalist".

Economic policy was far more moderate after 1982, his shock therapy of the 70s is widely seen as a failure.

By bringing even more human rights violations, corruption and economic failure.

Tankies and pinofagotts can fuck off

There were more human rights violations under Allende and Pinochet caused the economic boom that resulted in the late 80s.

>Pinoshit
>fixing poverty

Lmao

He left nearly half the country below poverty line

Pinochet didn't cause the economic boom. He was just bright enough to recognize his own limits and let people brighter than him handle the economy.

Make Chile the most prosperous nation in South America

Due to him fixing inflation, the huge decline in poverty in the 90's was largely attributed to his policies

605%*

Yeah, but not cause of his market liberalisation, because of the fixed exchange rate.

They did exactly as intended, successfully cut inflation to acceptable levels

>was largely attributed

By whom?

>dude Chilean economy takes off in the early 90s due to massive demand for copper because every one and their mother is buying a computer now lmao
>dude pinochet lmao based savior based helicopters lmao
P.s. Allende a shit too

>but not cause of his market liberalisation

That's Friedman's claim, hardly an impartial view.

In any case, his policies were indeed responsible for worsening the recession.

There's a paper on it, I'll see if I can find it

They intended much more than cutting inflation, and they failed.

>In 1979 however, Chile decided to depart from the neoliberal principle of free floating exchange rates, with disastrous results.

anderson.ucla.edu/faculty/sebastian.edwards/W6510.pdf

I don't see the article anywhere attributing Pinochet for poverty reduction.

You're simply copying Wikipedia references without even reading them by this point

>The economic reforms implemented by the Chicago Boys had three main objectives: economic liberalization, privatization of state-owned companies, and stabilization of inflation.

They practically achieved all three

The first two are almost tautologies.
"Economic liberalization achieved economic liberalization"
How is that relevant?

The shock therapy intended to provide employment, economic prosperity and stability, and it failed at that. It was only after economic policy became more moderate after 1982 that the country experienced sustained growth.

As opposed to you, offering nothing

Not an argument

Seize the means of helicopter rides. That was so expensive that he had to privatize everything else.

Save Chile from the dumbest ruler of the XX century only matched by Bob Gabriel Mugabe

I'm gonna get a lot of shit from you cause you are probably /pol/ dwellers or just ideological retards. Allende's economic reforms failed in great part cause marxist economic reforms implemented through a democracy was something completely unheard of. They tried to nationalize the copper industry which was largely ripping Chileans off, so the Rothchilds went crying to Nixon and that coupled with Red scare lead to the active destabilization via market coups lead by Allende's opposition (DC and CODE) and the CIA. There is proof of this of course:

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_FUBELT

es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paro_de_octubre_de_1972

This by all means implies that Allende's government policies were without a fault. The resulting hyperinflation and subsequent boom in unemployment were a direct consequence on the Government's lack of understanding on how currency devaluation worked. To be honest though linking the inflation phenomenon to currency manipulation was something that even Milton Friedman or any self-respecting economist at the time couldn't agree on.

The funny thing is that Pinochet handed the fucking country to the Americans just like that even issuing a 250.000.000 dollar compensation to the Rothchilds who had made a profit from their copper exploits in Chile to that date of 4.000.000.000 dollars. He also handed all the social infrastructure to private interests spurring a socioeconomic divide between the people of Chile which effects are even palpable today. On top of that you have the recurrent allegations of croneyism and widespread corruption that reached even his own family with the "Pinocheques" scandal involving his son. But that is what your regular neoliberal Government does on a daily basis. Trying to measure a country's economic prosperity just by their GDP alone is retarded if one doesn't take a look at the social infrastructure.

Please show up more often and shit on Kissenger dickriders, I love it when it happens.

Triggered the pinocuck

To crash his economy. With no survivors.

Pinochet kept copper nationalized. The Rothschild conspiracy is nonsense.

lel

>Rothchilds
Holy shit, stopped reading right there, salfate pls go, you fat fuck.

Are you retarded or what? I'm not saying the blame was on the Rothchilds but they had huge interests in Chilean copper ore extractions along with Kennecott and Anaconda. The Americans basically declared an embargo on chilean copper which reduced their export income from 230 mill dollars to just 40 in a period of 2 years.

>What is the "Ley Orgánica Constitucional de Concesiones Mineras"

Open a history book you fucking faggot

>Reading about the history of Chilean mining
I'd rather read anything else.
Ok. Let's assume all your shitty conspirational shit is true for a second (obviously it's not) Chile like any other third world country at the time had pretty much just two non-shit options, either siding with the fatties or the commies (of whatever denomination, let's disregard shit types) If the Rothschilds who supposedly had this inmense, unfathomable power, had these ""huge interests"" in Chile, and enough influence to easily wreck its economy not with an h-bomb, but just lobbying an embargo, wouldn't this render any informed politician who decides to even then side with the allegedly anti-reptilian commies (and by extension all the retards who chose him) absolutely naive faggots at best. I mean, if socialism doesn't collapses because it's so shit, but because the sneaky capitalists sabotaged it everytime, doesn't that mean that capitalism was the stronger system from the first place. And wouldn't this make the desicion obvious for the 20th century third-worlder? Apparently not in Chile. Good riddance.

It's clear to me that people are anti-Pinochet not for any real reasons other than to be contrarian to the right-wingers on here lol

Nice strawman ya dingus. I never said it was the Rothchilds alone who wanted to keep their facilities in Chile but a huge chunk of the american mining and metallurgic conglomerates. American industries have waged wars for less and they are incredibly powerful if you dont believe that then you are either a fool or just ignorant. The folly of Allende's regime doesn't lie on foreign interest alone but also incompetence with dealing with the consequences of hyperinflation. One thing that excuses some of their actions is that they were pretty much in uncharted territory, "la via socialista" had never been tried before but they did colossal fuck ups nonetheless. Also, learn to read faggot.

It seems to me that mass incarcerations, weakening a countries social structure, political assassinations, tortures and repressing a whole country for 20 years is more than enough reason to be anti-Pinochet. Life is not all memes you fucking retard.

>"la via socialista" had never been tried before
I mean, there were plenty of other attempts at socialism around the world, not that you need to know about them to realize it's useless

>American industries have waged wars for less and they are incredibly powerful
But Pedro, that's what I said, you dumb spic. If they're so powerful and influent why would you side against them with something that "had never been tried before" you sweaty piece of shit.

Literally all means justified by the end and the circumstances

This desu

A few thousand retarded commies getting throws out of helicopters is better than millions starving under a failed delusional ideology that destroyed their neighbors like Venezuela.

Absolutely

>I mean, there were plenty of other attempts at socialism around the world, not that you need to know about them to realize it's useless

"La vía socialista" wasn't a fucking "attempt at socialism", it was a way to reform the whole gubernamental and economic structures to a marxist one through a democratic process. THAT had never done before, open a fucking book.

>But Pedro, that's what I said, you dumb spic. If they're so powerful and influent why would you side against them with something that "had never been tried before" you sweaty piece of shit.

Gee, golly Jamal I don't know maybe if your whole country is being gang fucked by foreign capitalist interest you may wanna try to retake sovereignty of your own nation and try to make a more socially equitative society through socialist reforms. In what world is standing up for your countries own economic independence and national sovereignty is a bad thing. What kind of spineless worm are you? Not everybody wants to suck fucking globalist cock.

>Life is not all memes you fucking retard.
Prove it

>>>

Yes because Pinochet's economic programs worked so well...

If anti-communist opinions trigger you go back to /r/eddit

>muh globalism
>muh sovereignity
>muh special type of socialism
>muh economic independence
>muh socialism has never been tried

Literally all recycled semantics and appeals to emotion. I'll post some stats instead. Also, don't reply back, you're not worth replying to.

If facts trigger you go back to /pol/ faggot

>linking to /pol/ is a fact

Nice graph faggot. Try giving a fucking source like this one from the UN.

There was an economic boom that lasted 5 years I'll give you that, until it drastically stopped after the crises of 82. The biggest one in the country after the Great Depression. The national economy got fucked because like all fucking neoliberal economies it heavily relies on foreign markets and a fucking massive private debt.

This economic model introduced during the military regime was lauded by many due to the macroeconomic indexes that remained stable for decades but underneath all this the excessive faculties handed to private parties and lack of state control lead to a drastic increase in economic inequality and social segregation, specially regarding health and education. All problems which still exist as of today.

Now you may try to reduce my arguments to memes but you must be a special kind of faggot if you just don't care about a bunch of fucking assholes fucking your country up for profit.

Bad meme

Nice facts there.

>mfw Veeky Forums claims to be anything other than contrarian /pol/
lol

>Egalitarianism
>Good

Take your metaphysical bullshit somewhere else.

I rather live in Chile the any other Latin American country. Shit, they even have lower crime then the Portuguese monkey nation.

You're delusional

The crisis was due to Pinochet going back on the advice of the chicago boys and pegging the peso to the dollar.

Actually it was quite the opposite my man, During the crisis Pinochet named Escobar Cerda for treasury secretary and he was a major critic on Friedman's policies.

who helped stabilize the deficit

Chile is still a shtilhole reeling from Pinochet's reforms

The average worker doesn't see the strength of their economy when they have no universal healthcare and work 70 hour weeks

Deflation is only helpful to the rich

The entire Latin America was hit by a hard economic crisis in 1982.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latin_American_debt_crisis

It was actually milder in Chile than in countries like Brazil and Venezuela, where statist policies were implemented during the 1970s.

All the countries above were pegged to the IMF- including Chile

>waah we should just spend money we don't have because our economy doesn't grow, everything will work fine in the end, if we run out of money we just print it

I will not even say Venezuela. Brazil is not full socialist, but tried to have a welfare state without previous economic growth and now the whole thing is collapsing.

Give a few more years and Chile will be able to pay for universal healthcare and better labour laws. Right now, what Latin American countries need is more growth.

You can see in the very graph user posted that Chile was hit way harder than the average South American country.

/pol/tards being pro-pinochet is really ironic. Don't they realise that being contrarian doesn't prevent you from being manipulated?

>Don't they realise that being contrarian doesn't prevent you from being manipulated?

Obviously not. Maybe they'll learn something in the next four years. They'll get a taste of the real "red pill".

fully automated gay luxury space communism

Yes, yes, well done neoliberals well done. HOWEVER, lets look at countries that have taken these so called growth policies. Like for example Mexico where they pretty much have sold the entire industrial infrastructure to private corporate interests, one of the countries with highest GDP and member of NAFTA but where social and economical inequality is rampant and there is a mass exodus to the US because the wages are shit. Honduras is also a good example a country that has free trade deals like MCCA, CAFTA, CA3... San Pedro Sula is considered the most dangerous city on earth even surpassing Raqqa, Kabul or fucking Baghdad and most of the outskirts of Tegucigalpa are considered fucking slums. So if you start pointing out meme examples we can do exactly the same you fucking faggot.

>expropriate from the workers

Uhhhhhhhh

irrelevant spic dictator no. 429 who is only remembered by a bunch of neckbeards who masturbate over how cool and fashy he looked in the epic trench coat and hat

You have to go back

>implying Veeky Forums is /pol/ with dates

HA

Veeky Forums does not make much use of dates after all.

>Our population should starve so capitalists can get us enough Industrial Points to finally become Great Power and sphere Vietnam

It's funny that /pol/cucks disregard everything that happened in Venezuela before Chavez' death.

What is even funnier is that Chile has worse Human Development Index than a state often presented as an example of lost potential, that is Argentina, even with higher GDP per capita

And both Cuba and Venezuela, which /pol/ likes to consider failed states in which famine is widespread are more developed than Mexico and Brazil.

allende a shit, pinochet a shit, 90s boom a bit of fortunate timing but ultimately fairly well managed and respectable

Hello r/socialism, how's it going?

>Chile has a worse HDI than argentina

Yeah, by 0.004. Truly a shoa.

Stop playing Victoria
Venezuela IS a failed state. We barely survive from starving here in the Bolivar state thanks to Brasil
t. Venezuelan

Speak some Venezuelan thanif you are from Venezuala

>Speak some Venezuelan

Is that like speaking American?

I have something better for you. Stop this meme that Chavez was a good leader, seriously my mang
Que tengas un lindo día, maricón

Chavez fue un buen líder lo que pasa es que tu eres un puto gusano

Do you even remember how Venezuela was before him?

Thanks for actually knowing history. Very rare on this board

He saved Chile from communist starvation and poverty by starving it and impoverishing it on his own! What a hero. If you unironically think pinochet was a good ruler you're actually retarded

He lived so retards on this board could meme us to death.

of course I remember, Im 27 years old

buen argumento, de verdad me encantó
