The game is a revenue machine. Not like the games of old with a "One and done" strategy where they sell copies of a game, make a profit and move on. Instead, Overwatch can make lots of profit for years to come if people are buying crates

The more people playing, the more people buy crates.
However, if people get tired of the game, people will stop playing, the revenue will dry up as player numbers dwindle

So blizzard SHOULD be looking to both

>Be updating heroes and maps etc. to make the game more enjoyable, to stop people burning out

If you produce no content for a year, people get bored, people leave. Revenue dries up
If you make the balance fucked for half a year, people get frustrated, nobody wants to play, people leve, Revenue dries up.

Games like Overwatch are less of a movie ticket, and more of a theme park. You dont just buy the theme park and leave and expect it to make money. Gotta maintain it, add to it. Make sure everyones having a good time and spending money

otherwise, i list my points below

1. It's a visual mess even after the rework. The fact that Blizzard had to add team colors to the skins and special effects, as well as overhauling the spectator system means the game is a mess to watch - and still is. It's better now, but it's still difficult to follow at times.

2. Stale meta. 5 heroes pretty much mandatory + an optional pick. Apparently people think Reaper getting 1-2 hours of total playtime means he's meta and the meta is balanced.

3. No competitive elements - No Scoreboard, no team display on HUD like in special events (Junkenstein, Uprising, etc.) , no clan /guild system

4. Blizzard controlling the e-sports scene - SC2 failed because casuals left due to slow balance, competitive died because South Koreans were representing other countries and no one cared when it was just South Korea vs. South Korea
