I'm having a lot of fun as aramusha right now so I suggest that. If you want the strongest character on the market then pick Shaman while she's still good. Make sure you bleed enemies and spam pounce when they're near a corner or guardbroken.

Honestly, I feel great that they added Romans in the game. Centurion being a predecessor to the armored knight sounds cool as fuck. They got the whole fully armor, sword-and-shield techs and being a professional soldier loyal to their liege. Makes a lot of sense compared to throwing in pirates just for the sake of it. But I'll play devil's advocate and say Shaman+Highlander was added in for the sake of it but they fit with the vikings well enough. Adding in a rapier user or gunslinger would definitely be jarring.

tbf there's not really another winning strategy against zerk, especially when they just constantly whiff lights into obscenely damaging heavies they can soft feint or feint. There's really no way to fight Zerks I've found that doesn't involve just sitting there like an ass until they have to stop the chain, at which point you can interrupt them, or parrying their zone.
