>Yugoslavia
>Stateless and classless

there was lots of unemployment though. some rural parts just toiled in the fields well into the late 70s. Tito opened the border in the early 60s and everyone and their mother tried to be a gasturbeiter or emigrate to the US.

wayyyy better than the shitshow that's going on in the region now. 75% youth unemployment in bosnia top kek

Well, it certainly is stateless now.

How exactly did it work and how ''America destroyed it''?
If it was so successful how did it come to be so easily destroyed and how come any communist country didn't ''destroy'' any successful capitalist regime?
Why did all those new communist class aware citizens separated along ethnic lines and proceeded to ethnicly cleanse each other given the first chance to do so?
Why people never runned from capitalist countries to communist countries, only vice versa?
I'm really trying to understand the mind of a 21 century communist so please offer your best explanation

...

>actually worked
How fucking deluded do you have to be?

>5% of GDP goes to the armed forces yet the army remains critically underfunded (actual horse cavalry divisions in 1950 for God's sake) because all of the money is lost through corruption
>most of the tank force until the 80's are un-upgraded T34 donated by the soviets in 1945
>workers lived in abject poverty (most had to use more than half their paycheck just for food)
>almost nonexistent social security
>HDI on par with that of Turkey
>comparatively only reached 28% of the economic development of neighbouring Austria
>by Austrian levels, 95% of Yugoslavs lived below the line of poverty
>non state controlled union outlawed
>Tito has to open the country in 1968, because the unemployment is so high, the country can't function anymore, half a million Yugoslavs emigrate in the first year, followed by a million and 100'000 in the next years i.e. almost 20% of the entire workforce
>enormous housing shortage, most working class houses didn't even have heating or running water
>state decides to build 3 million state sponsored commieblocks of abject quality while it becomes another money sink as corruption becomes ever more rampant
>despite being promised to workers most of the state housing goes to party functionaries or whoever has enough money to bribe or good networking to get favours (only 22% of the housing actually went to the workers)
That's not even scratching the systematic stifling of reformist movements inside the party, brutal repression of democratic opposition, widespread corruption and abuse in the armed forces, how the said armed forces held the central government hostage after Tito's death, catastrophic economic mismanagement of resources, unwillingness to modernize a coal&steel based economy, 45% of inflation every year after 1980 and the catastrophic almost 99% inflation in 1989, how the UDBA had ties to the mafia. I'd type more but post limit.

By the way I don't think capitalism is any better, as it managed to completely undo any limited amount of economic progress Yugoslavia had achieved, but that's not a reason to put on rose tinted glasses and everything worked perfectly. There are only a few areas where Yugoslavia was actually a positive thing and not a dumpster fire someone pushed down the slope and those would be music, cinema and preventing Serbs and Croats from murdering Bosnians and each other.
But those were really the only positive point of Yugoslavia, saying it had a working economy is a joke.

This is either a Serb or a Macedonian.

all that shit and it's still objectively better than what replaced it

>America
*cough*NATIONALISM*cough*

>America ruined it
That's total bullshit though. Americans played a part later but Yugoslavia was ruined by political crisis and then economic crisis.
Yugoslavia was ruined by Yugoslavs.

Most of that is exaggeration or outright lie though.
Not one of those "it was ideal" guys, but it was pretty good compared to what came before it.
>UDBA ties with mafia
UDBA used mafia to do wetwork. There were no other ties or mafia in Yugoslavia at that time. Mafia existed among emigration.

Typical of Slovenians, they've gained most of their time in Yugoslavia and after they've left and become German and Austrian cum sockets, they're over-inflating negative numbers and trying to paint the only humane Socialist country as an intended prison of nations, they'd even stoop to outright lies. All of this, just to paint the image that they're allegedly doing better than before.

I guess it's easier to lie than accept the fact that some godless Communist bastards have done more for our civilizations than anyone else has, including our modern-day "democratic" leaders. At the same time, Yugoslavia had to rebuild six devastated and neglected former colonies, develop a completely new and modern system of infrastructure and proper foundations for a real-time, competitive industry, which, prior to that moment, we've never had before, raise the non-existent literacy rate to something respectable and maintain her position of a dominant and truly sovereign entity on the geopolitical map of the world. Under her leadership, we've made a leap from Third World shit-holes to Second World republics that were closest to becoming "First World" than anyone else was. It's true that Yugoslavia had a diaspora of nearly eight hundred thousand , but then again, her government has also made sure that her seasonal workers will be treated with respect, dignity and utter professionalism wherever they go, and they were, hence the positive results. If you all have a problem with Yugoslavia, then by all means, deconstruct everything that was built in your countries by her representatives and relish in the "prosperous bleakness, considering that the only "industry" you Slovenians had before was a one-way railroad built by the Austrians for the sole reason of extracting ores from your recently built mines.

>>enormous housing shortage, most working class houses didn't even have heating or running water
>>state decides to build 3 million state sponsored commieblocks of abject quality while it becomes another money sink as corruption becomes ever more rampant
lel one line about no housing followed by a line about the state going on a massive housing construction boom

irony must have been lost on you when you made that post

And this is a good point.
Kingdom of Yugoslavia was a very shit undeveloped state and what little it had was almost totally ruined in WW2. Some shit survived but there wasn't much to survive anyway.
Commies built us up almost from scratch.
What's funny about Slovenians especially is that they literally begged Serbs to send army after WW1 so they don't get swallowed by Austrians and Italians. Now they just pretend that never happened and that they were somehow forced into "Serboslavia" and snatched from loving Austrian embrace.
And another rarely mentioned thing: Yugoslav debt was very low while Tito was in power. It started growing in late 70's.
Today's Croatia alone has TWICE the debt Yugoslavia had in 80's, and yes, this is with converted dollar value. And their GDP per capita grew rather little.
It's literally a state surviving on the good will of neoliberals, and Yugoslavia didn't have that. Though of course it was our fault.

Maybe, just maybe, the post went something like this:

>extreme housing shortage
>government tries to build houses
>only 22% go to workers anyway

Maybe.

Or a Bonsian or Herzegovian, or even Montenegrin. Fuck off croat.

That is still successful by communist standards. There has never been a non-shit communist country, so this is the best commies can come up with.

thing is Yugoslavia was very generous with (almost notoriously so) who they allowed into the party, it wasnt like the Soviet Union where it was closed off, every two toothed hick was allowed to and encouraged to join the party and saying the apartments mostly went to party members isn't a fair criticism

Oh, and corruption is endemic to Balkans. Commies very actually good in that aspect, compared to those before and after.
You really have to be a special kind of retard to say modern succesors are succesful states, whatever Yugoslavia's faults were.

Most of what he wrote is an absolute lie, even by post-Soviet standards.

Not at all, they, the British, the Austrians and the Germans have had all to gain immeasurably from the dissolution of Yugoslavia. The British would get rid of someone who denied them a chance of gaining a powerful foothold in the Balkans, the Austrians would finally get Croatia and Slovenia back under their political and cultural influence, the Germans would've gotten rid off a decent alternative to their European Union, plus they'd never tolerate a sovereign state with that kind of army on their southern border and finally, the Americans needed them out of the picture because under their leadership, the Non-Aligned movement kept their influence solely tied to Warsaw pack-themed parts of the world, limiting its spread across the globe, especially in Africa and a good chunk of Asia as well, plus they needed a reason to supplement their need for a base in the very heartland of the Balkans.

It wasn't that easy, the processes that led to it's dissolution began shortly after Tito's death, only culminating in the year 1992, Tito's refusal to appoint a valid hair caused a vacuum of power which was filled in with lesser men with far too great ambitions.

>only vice versa
In the case of Yugoslavia, only enemies of the state, threats to national security, traitors and former Chetniks and Ustashas were fleeing the country, there were a few men who were truly innocent, but the rest weren't. Also, the Yugoslav diaspora was treated well and taken care of only because Yugoslavia took the necessary steps to assure their well-being in the countries they've emigrated to.Otherwise, they would've been treated like Polish and Turkish immigrants, and we all know how they were treated back in the day.

You could also refuse to join. My grandpa did so, though he was with partisans in WW2.

His facts are mostly unsubstantiated claims and outright lies.

Croats and Slovenians suffer from the same affliction, they need validation from their former masters and alleged betters and they think the only way to get it is to slander the only civilization that had built everything they have today.

Is that why their diaspora was only 800 000 strong, You're forgetting the fact they've had to rebuild all the damage that was caused in both World Wars and build an entire modern system of infrastructure and industry on very sparse foundations. It's impossible to do everything at the same, especially with their resources.

People just don't get Yugoslavia it wasn't some super prosperous state but it was just a lazy system that just worked for most people, if you got a factory job you were set if you didn't there was a bustling "privatnik" culture, people living on the coast as fisherman were able to go to fine restaurants and order multi course meals next to middle management party "elite" people did all kinds of odd jobs and lived comfortably just doing that. Guys who handed out newspapers for a living were given a (shitty) apartment that they didn't have to worry about making rent for. People played chess and went to cafes all the time just to pass the time. If you wanted to make "real money" you applied to emigrate to west Germany and no one really cared. Shit like that.

Most of those ultra nationalist fucks who called for war in 1991 who didn't get while the going was good via war profiteering during the Yugoslav wars are crying now when they can't even afford to take their grandchildren to pizza once a week now.

You could also own your own private business with your own employees in Yugoslavia.

Mein Gott
*sniffs in slovene*
What the fuck am I reading.

First of all Slovenia was already fairly industrialized (textile industry, coal mines in Zagorje and Velenje, iron mines in Gorenjska, ironworks in Jesenice, etc..) when it was integrated into Yugoslavia and managed to outperform other banats/republics in both Yugoslavias DESPITE heavy anti-slovene bias and treating Slovenia as a second class province.
The poster child of this repeated bashing in my opinion was the Cestna afera when Serbs literally stole money from the IBRD that was meant for the construction of a highway in Slovenia, where the money went after it was taken to Belgrade is unknown, and the army decided to remove the reformist Kavčič governemnt and replace with a good old hardliner anti-revisionists that were completely subservient to the army.
For good measure they also nationalized and disbanded any private enterprises that sprung up during the Kavčič years and came up with a grandiose Stalinesque plans to expand coal production even though there was no need to, specially in a time when Yugoslavs had a big deficit of quality food and consumer products, but I guess wanting coffee and toothbrushes is a hallmark of being a fascist-ustashe-četnik-whiteguard-muslim-bulgarophile agitator (an actual expression, not made up by me, thank the enlightened minds that wrote high school manuals for "Introduction course to Marxism-Leninism").
And the Cestna afera is just one of these numerous scandals that proved time and time again that Belgrade didn't give one shit about Slovenia and only used it as an exploitation province like other empires before.
Really the fact that yugophiles just blank coat all of this sysremic abuse with "muh brotherhood" of nations disgust me and is just another proof trusting Serbians is a very bad decison to make.

>the old and busted conspiracy memes

Fucking read the actual transcripts you deluded Serbistani. No one in the west wanted Yugoslavia to stop existing, least of all Bush Sr. who tried all he could to prevent Yugoslavia from dissolving, even after Yugoslav tanks started their agression to Slovenia.
The only 2 figures that supported Slovene independence from the start were the Vatican and Otto von Habsburg, the Americans tried to negotiate a reformed Yugoslavia and absolutely opposed its dissolution.

Oh no some people were corrupt fucks this clearly means anti-Slovenian bias.
And once again, Serbs didn't come on their own, YOU LITERALLY INVITED SERB ARMY AFTER WW1.
>heavily industrialized
Which proceeded in commie times.
What exactly did Slovenia lose in Yugoslavia? Your identity? Culture? Language? Nothing really.

>First of all Slovenia was already fairly industrialized
By Balkan standards, absolutely.

>when it was integrated into Yugoslavia and managed to outperform other republics in both Yugoslavia DESPITE heavy anti-Slovene bias and treating Slovenia as a second class province.

For the record, the independent state of Croats, Serbs and Slovenes has voluntarily entered in a Union with the Kingdom of Serbs. What you consider under "forced" is the fact that you've failed at your attempts at gaining full independence in the years that came after, mostly by postponing them because you've had access to massive labor force and a sizable market Slovenia had access to because of Yugoslavia? Not to mention, even after the dissolution. Per capita, it was actually Serbia that got the largest share of the federal budget, but Slovenia had a great advantage in terms of investment in industry because during the late 40’s and 1950’s the development of its industry and infrastructure was privileged in the 5 year plans, because it was financially more viable to invest in existing proto-industry than to start out of nothing (as it was in poorer republics, which did not have the infrastructure needed).”

What you consider "second class" treatment is actually privileged treatment, but you see as it "oppression" because some things just happened to be denied to you.

>For good measure they also nationalized and disbanded any private enterprises that sprung up
Because they were undermining other republics by transferring resources from them to Slovenia under false pretense, hence the numerous affairs and "his" eventual resignation.

>Really the fact that Yugophiles just blank coat all of this systematic abuse
You're good at playing victim, but you're shit at justifying it.

>have economy running almost entirely on western loans
>westerners don't want them paid back because they enjoy Yugoslavia not being part of the Soviet block
>USSR collapses
>westerners start to denand their money
>WTF WEST WHY DO YOU RUIN MY ECONOMY

Commies are fucking retarded. I wouldn't let a communist run a news stand, much less a country.

Slojewian status: [REKT]
Also, Slovenians had a pretty autonomous and sizeable partisan movement in WW2.
But since 90's they love to pretend that both times they chose Yugoslavia was "forced".
It's like how Californians are now crying they wanna separate because Tito was elected.

>Tito
wew nice slip

>No one in the west wanted Yugoslavia to stop existing
Absolutely, a part of the world that desperately wanted to establish an economic foothold in this part of Europe for nearly half a century but couldn't, because Yugoslavia was actually a sovereign state that protected it's economy, and is currently ravaging most ex-Yugoslav republics with shaky investments and suspicious buy-offs certainly wanted her to remain intact.

>the old and busted conspiracy memes
They're not busted, they're vehemently ignored.

>Bush Sr. who tried all he could to prevent Yugoslavia from dissolving
Is that why he turned down all propositions for investment credits and offered his own, where one billion American dollars would be dispensed to Yugoslavia, but only under the requirement that all federate republics vote in a democratic government that would demand for even more decentralization?

>the Americans tried to negotiate a reformed Yugoslavia and absolutely opposed its dissolution
H.R.5114 - Foreign Operations, Export Financing, and Related Programs Appropriations Act, 1991 begs to differ I'm afraid.

that wasn't real communism

We didn't kill Tito, did we?

>have economy running almost entirely on western loans
A post- dissolution theory that has never seen the light of substantiated evidence and academic approval.

>Commies are fucking retarded
But not retarded enough to spearhead a global movement that kept both blocs from consuming Asia and Africa and destroying global balance.

I guess he made it?

Who did the other 88% go to? Is there some English source, btw?

Yugoslavia was successful for two reasons. One tito was a great leader. Two they got support from the Americans just to stick it to the soviets. It is not a coincidence it all fell apart shortly after both of these things ended.

>communism actually worked

>communism

>actually
