There is absolutely nothing about ETH that makes it more suited to darknet transactions than bitcoin.
And besides, there are plenty of coins that are better for darknet shit than bitcoin (XMR, ZEC, etc), yet they didn't replace it, and ETH sure as hell won't either.
Additionally, ETH is TERRIBLE for illegal transactions because the people in charge of it have already shown that they're willing to HARD FORK THE WHOLE GODDAMN NETWORK to undo transactions they don't like.

I cant really answer this as im still a newbie coinlet, but im guessing since btc is slow its good still but eth is faster and will be used by business for microtransactions and fees behind the scenes (even if apps appear to only use usd on the consumer facing side).
