Is buying a DCS module with a fully clickable cockpit even worth considering if you don't have headtracking?

I played around with the free Su-25T on the steam, and I'm now jumping to the standalone version and I'm having a bad case of choice paralysis. Which modules are good? and which are trash?

Fuck's sake it's not gonna get delayed. ED may be incompetent but they're not gonna fuck up the one thing they ever explicitly promised.

You can get by without headtracking but it's not ideal

I recommend the F-5, it's a full clicky module but it's simple and straightforward

You need to buy NTTR or Normandy map to use that since it doesn't include a free map like 1.5. You should get 1.5 and wait a few days, since it's being upgraded to the new 2.5 engine

War Thunder, I guess? But it doesn't have cold war planes yet. And if you want to fly jets in it you better be ready to grind all day every day for months or pay big cash to unlock shit faster. It also has a lot of broken and 100% made up flight models, the matchmaking doesn't have any semblance of balance, the community is full of retards, and it's made by devs so incompetent, stupid, greedy and out of touch (I've never seen someone so terrible at PR and communication with the players) it's not even funny. And its single player content is shit.

But it is less arcadey than Ace Combat.

Still leaning heavily on the Ace Combat side just without the most retarded stuff, but Lethal Skies 1&2 are pretty good. Also Aero Elite: Combat Academy.

I wish DCS was more like the old IL-2, with a hundred plus flyable planes. DCS is not worth it if you have to pay $20 just to fly the mustang, and another $20 to fly 1 variant of the fw-190. The plane selection is so weak.

You can't have hundreds of playable and cheap planes when the entire point of the game is to simulate planes as accurately and realistically as possible (down to every single knob, switch and button in the cockpit and every mechanical and electronic system) and developing just one plane to those standards can take at least five years.

It still takes the same or more time, money and manpower to create them than it takes for AAA games that you're happy to pay 60 bucks for. Expecting DCS to have hundreds of planes and still be a simulator is stupid, you can either have tons of barely realistic planes or a few more realistic ones.

Because the aircraft is aerodynamically unstable, and the AoA limiter keeps it in check. The S key disables the AoA limiter, and suddenly the aircraft is no longer keeping stable artificially. It pitches down hard because that's how the aircraft naturally flies without anything controlling it.

So what's the purpose of disabling the limiter?

Fancy airshow tricks that destroy the air-frame and dump all your airspeed, like a Cobra. Specifically a Cobra, actually. Not much use, but Flankers do have the feature, so DCS does as well.

This loadout is why the Shark is the best module in DCS.
Cluster munition dispensers and A-G missiles that have more range than your laser designator.

Yeah I think I remember hearing when they took it out of service they destroyed almost every one of them straight away because they didn't want Iran getting any spares for their Tomcats. Such a shame because it's almost a certainty there won't be any coming to museums in the UK, unless some sort of loan deal is struck but I doubt it.
