This is the problem in all card games.
People are naturally going to gravitate towards best performing deck. At first even Cubelock was "innovative", but it turned to cancer quicker than the ugandan knukcles meme.

Every zero sum game has one optimal strategy. You will always end up with 2-3 dominant decks and you will call them cancer because your bad homebrew deck can't keep up with them.
