mindlessly tossing out a 50 damage shield with 50 healing every time something happens makes a hitbox about on par with nyx take as much damage as a Sorlag. it's just a smaller version of the Anarki problem- hard to hit, eats damage anyway.

The totem damage was fine, and the hefty speed buff, it's the cooldown buff she didn't need.

I actually don't think Quake Champions is a bad game. It's actually the opposite. It's TOO intense. People get caught up and put TOO much energy into it, and the instant the smallest little thing happens that kills them, they EXPLODE. Their is a trance that comes over players while they're playing, and they become extremely focused, up until the moment something unexpected happens(and thus they die), and all that energy is released at once.

I've been visiting some of these random twitch streamer personalities that have been testing the waters with QC and after a small introductory period you can see their faces get uncharacteristically absorbed(they are half-actors, after all), and then they die and it's like someone detonated them as they spaz and lose their cool in a way you would normally NEVER see them do.

I like QC and I agree with this. QC will go f2p sometime this year and it'll 99% likely to be in a much better state then than it is now so for getting max value for your $, just give it abit

Quake Champions was always going to be free to play. It's in a paid early access right now. The people who buy for the game(not actually called 'buying QC' but called 'buying the champion pack') have access to all champions and the ability to make custom game lobbies.

Once the game is launched and is out of early access, anyone who wants to play can download the game and play for free, but only have access to champions they rent at cost of favor(an in-game currency earned by playing), champions possibly found in lootboxes (awarded each for each player level they get), champions purchased directly with platinum(an in-game currency purchasable directly with $) and Ranger.

Right now in the early access you can possibly get your hands on a game code for a f2p copy of the game(such as is sometimes awarded in the bi-weekly community stream), and most people who were in the closed beta test have a f2p copy of the game.

I got in very early in the CBT cycle and have spent no money on the game, I currently have (in addition to Ranger) Visor, Sorlag, Clutch, Slash, and Doom Slayer all found in the lootboxes I've opened up. It's really not a bad f2p experience, it's maybe one step better than f2p League of Legends- in LoL you could eventually permanently unlock any champion, but the cost of renting a Champion in QC is trivial, and if you're lucky you could eventually unlock all the champions anyway.

It's the free2play thing where they're going to make money because after I spend a couple 1000 hours playing for $0, they come out with a wicked voice pack/outfit for the FuckYouRobot, I'll drop $40 down without thinking.

its a fun game and the most populated arena shooter youre gonna find now. itll be free to play later(this year supossedly i think) so if you are patient or if $30 is a lot of money to you, then you can wait, otherwise i think it is definitely worth $30. it is a great game after you get past the learning curve.

When someone asked SyncError on Discord what was the playercount on the Beth Launcher, after dodging the question a bit ("I'm not sure. I'd have to ask."), he said "about 50 right now". Back then QC on Steam was at like 750
They will never make the numbers official because it'd be embarrassing for everyone to see nobody uses their DRM platform, but don't hold your breath for a real playerbase hidden away from the steamcharts count. It's like a handful of other guys

well thats too bad. still, i dont think QC is going anywhere as long as the devs dont do anything really stupid or wacky. you dont need huge numbers for a game to be playable; as long as queue times are fast and youre not playing the exact same players every match, then it should be fine

everyone else is about the same, capping at 560, 550, 520 etc. Keel should be noted as being last place in all categories at 480 with poor acceleration.

Considering average speed due to acceleration and turning. This is also assuming you have good movement mechanics and can do excellent circle jumps and strafe jumps at will:

because they started using common sense and realized the champions that are the fastest around corners with the smallest hitboxes shouldn't also be the fastest champions. Slash gets to her max speed of 600 extremely quickly and she basically never ever slows down on any corner, on any jump, or even into an ADAD movement and it's extraordinarily powerful even as her top speed is now lower than a handful of champions.

All right, fair enough. But Nyx is also down at 600 now, right? And she doesn't have crouch slide.

visor should be at the top of the speed caps. clutch's air strafe speed cap is the lowest at 320ups. galena is also at the same level as nyx/slash now at 600ups

newshit here; been playing galena, visor, nyx and ranger quite a bit. started to play sorlag and doomguy too. i wanna add another small champ to that list, im just wondering about anarki's small HP and slash's sliding movement.
which one of the latter two things is likely to be a larger obstacle in learning to play anarki/slash? i never played slash at all, but the movement doesnt appear to be that difficult?
is there some kinda way that everyone uses anarki's injection now? like to get above 80 hp so you dont get railed immediately?

crouch sliding isn't that hard, it'll only take a couple games on each map and you'll be good to go
anarki is a different story, some people start injecting imminently and look for hourglasses while playing passively (rails and nails and long range) until they get a good amount of hp. some people play him the same way as you used to, dunno how good that is now

Anarki is for pros playing a specalist. I wouldn't try. Slash is the complete opposite, and movement is not at all difficult.

They need to build more stuff for new players. I feel so bad when there's some level 3 who's in the game and he's gotten 0 kills in 10 minutes. I know he's not having fun and I want him to have fun and there's nothing honest I could reach out with other than

Oh fun fact. Did you know that the wider width of women's hips doesn't affect their running efficiency or speed?

The biggest improvement they could make for new players is making spawn points on all maps better to prevent them from getting spawn killed.
Technically speaking it is more difficult to fight a prepared player than a newly spawned player.
Better spawns could greatly improve player experience.

You know what's incredible? Aim >>> Movement. This isn't a criticism, it's just the translatable nature of the better aim people have today. You can find some real dedicated old-timer Quake players playing QC with absolutely perfect movement, playing Visor they can take a dump on your typical quakefresh movement. And he hits his timings on a familiar map like dm6 using rj tricks and positioning advantage and despite all that skill, he will just lose to a much higher accuracy, younger player with the modern optical pro gaming mice and fast reaction time.
I think in past incarnations of quake and other aFPS expectations of things like consistent 70%+ rail accuracy was just absurd and movement and item control were the real tickets to success. But if you get an environment where somebody can just shoot their opponent and their opponent dies first, everytime, all that movement skill loses value.

They need to make sure that they balance weapons based upon the aim of the modern young gamer and not to what the old-timers are used to in previous incarnations of quake.
