Boostshit is NOT suitable for 3D platforming. In 3D sections, all you do is boost through a cinematic experience with smartphone endless runner controls:
>jump/crouch
>dash left/right
>get sent to fuck off to a 2D section for actual platforming

Any 3D platforming in a bost game is automated
>hoaming attack chains
>trampoline chains
>rails
>quicktime events (QTE)
All the significant """""gameplay""""" as modern sonic happens in 2D sections. Forces will be no exception to this.

The only games where Sonic was fully in 3D were:

>Heroes
>Shadow the Hedgehog
>06
And the most polished of those being SA2 & SA1. These games were perfect because they were fast-paced, high-risk/high-reward 3D platformers with precise controls.
I know Adventure games don't follow the laws of physics as realistically as boostshit """""games"""" do, but realism=/=suitable for FAST-PACED 3D space platforming.

I mean, I agree up to a point.
Adventure let you have more freedom than Boost, and I fucking love Adventure games to boost, but let's not pretend that Adventure 2 didn't have linear as fuck level design sometimes.

Adventure 1 did too but you could abuse the living fuck out of the spindash to give you more freedom and to skip entire sections. Adventure 2 gives you full 3d control and sticks you on planned routes most of the time.

Boost is still shit mind you.

I don't think anyone is favoring Boost physics over Adventure physics.

Boost worked great in 2D because you're moving on a 2D plane, so all you really need to do was jump to avoid death pits. But in 3D, it just doesn't mesh well unless the devs handicap your movement by making it so you can only press left or right, or design boost segments as if you have tunnel vision, which make everything feels linear and boring.

user I appreciate your effort, but you're not gonna get much in the way of good discussion with this lad.

And yeah, the people who tend to enjoy the Boost games (myself included) tend to not point out physics as a reason.

BTW, seeing the posts this guy made on /v/ before coming here is comedy gold.

I mean, I know this autist is gonna autist hard, but it makes sense in a platformer based on momentum to have a tilt to turning in 3d, especially going as fast as Sonic does.

Admittedly, Adventure's more fun with it's control scheme, but if a boost game was actually developed well I'd be all for the turn angle.

losing some realism is fine in video games.

by that logic, you'd also shatter your bones trying to perform a basic jump since there's no anticipation or build-up of strength. you just immediately go 20ft in the air.

inclusion/removal of turn angle really isnt that big a deal compared to just dropping the entire boost concept in 3D

Worst thing about forces is time it was realised in. If it was realised not after four years hiatus but after series of unqestionably solid titles it would felt just like some minor bump on road.
