Why does this game have so few preemptive counterplay options? It's basically all reactionary, which is why the strongest cards are the ones that do the most shit before the opponent can react to them.

Why isn't there, for example, a spell that puts a countdown amulet on your opponent's board to limit their flooding ability? This would hurt shit like Daria or shadow immensely. Or a card that punishes your opponent for playing expensive followers, so dragon can't run the meta uncontested like it often does.

This isn't Yugioh

Chronos, I've played a good bit of Dragon to counter rune and Chronos fucks your standard ramp deck. Windmill builds do better against it but if you remove it they're fucked.

I had a 8 loss streak against shitters before pulling this out so I know the deck isn't exactly great.

Chronos is a good example of that, but his cost/stats are so shit that he can't really be used. If he was like a 5/5 I'd be fine with him.

the preemptive counterplay is to kill them before they get their gameplan going, i highly doubt we will see any specific hatecards

Yeah, that's the problem. There's little thinking involved with this game, you just pick the most uninteractive deck and win because there's no way to stop it.

it is designed to be a fast paced game that ends early, proactive strategies will always be the strongest unless there is a major shift in design which i don't see happening
