This deck looks very cool but I miss 3 legendaries for it and I don't want to invest that much on it. If it was just 1 sure, but Kathrena, Rexxar and Krush are just too much. I guess that I can sub Krush for a Charged Devilsaur, but still.

If you're doing well with it, then good on you. I had no trouble at all beating hunters this month and I haven't seen one since I was rank 3. I just don't think the class is good enough, relies too heavily on spellstones and even then it can just get bullied or aoed down.

Pro-tip: keep one format low rank and bomb to rank 20 at the end of the month. Next season, there will be 100 stars from rank 24 to 4 where you can steamroll new and bad players.

If you play a win-2-concede-1 pattern (each star progression = 2 wins and no win streaks), that’s a lower bound of 200 wins for 100 stars (assuming 100% WR - so you’ll farm even more wins mitigating for losses). Easy for finishing golden portraits.

Counterspell is just too universal in general. I like playing mage but I think most secrets are pretty cancer.

I use the candle king cardback to let my opponent know that I am a MASTER of all classes.

You know that's the point of secrets? If you can flowchart around them that means they're poorly designed. More classes should have mage-caliber secrets.

Like what? I'd say the only poorly designed mage secret in standard is Ice Block and that's because it's not secret-like at all. It should just be a regular spell and then they could make it cost more.

It's not like hunter secrets where you get situations like "just don't attack this taunt minion!" or rogue secrets which are useless. Using counterspell requires planning and timing for when the opponent will want to use their spell. You can even do things like playing counterspell before your flamestrike turn to encourage the opponent to play small minions for you to AoE. It's a model secret that injects actual interaction into the game instead of deck vs. deck.

I guess I've seen some mill rogues use Evasion but that's not really much different from Ice Block in the sense that it doesn't really behave like a secret.

Also since I wasn't sure it was obvious, I'll clarify: when I say it doesn't behave like a secret, it's because only new players are "fooled" by Evasion. It rarely matters what order you hit the enemy hero in, so in the majority of cases an experienced player would play exactly the same even if Evasion was announced visibly. They wouldn't play their OTK into it either way. Therefore there's no reason for it to be a secret except as a noob trap.

What you said is all fine and good, if we forget the fact that that counterspell was played for free, will give your opponent a free frostbolt on top of a 2/3 minion and will come along a 0 mana 5/5.
