Water Magna isn't even that terrible unless you don't know how to play. Was below 4min30 on Hell95 during Fire GW using Magna Water/No Eternals. While it's not the best for sure and people with Varuna/Murgs/Uno were most likely under 3 minutes it's still fairly decent and enables you to secure top 20K without having to farm 6 hours a day or something.

People always shit on Magna Water as if the thing was completely unplayable. You're not going to MVP, but what Magna grid does it reliably anyway...

How is that an argument for Uno being core and not simply scaling to the best character in the game with the right grid? I never argued that he's bad in Varuna. Core are characters that bring stuff to enable builds to work. By your reasoning almost all eternals are core, as well as pretty much anybody rated at 9.5 in memelist and some 9s.

Naru's kit names are mostly 4 kanji idiomatic phrases that are a pain in the ass to translate into English(especially in a concise way that would fit in a skill name). For example "My everything" is actually 山紫水明(sanshisuimei), meaning scenic beauty and made up of 4 kanji describing landscapes. The others don't encompass the original meanings well either, although "In Love and War" is a nice one since the original is 万物斉同(banbutsu seidou). Basically the ideal that everything in life is equal and fair since one thing can't exist without another. Shadow can't exist without light, good and bad are part of a whole, etc. It still doesn't have an inherent romantic connotation like the English gave it but it's a good choice.

Some other differences are "Choco Loco for You" is "Sweet and Heavy Feelings". The line that says "for my sweet captain" isn't in the Japanese at all and neither is "have my cake and eat it!".
