No worries, obviously it didn't go as planned on my end either.

>Also, about your plans for prosetlyzation, one could easily make a decision and event chain to convert the pagans historically
I don't necessarily want historical outcomes guaranteed, just encouraged. If there were a few Pagans still kicking around, or even if the east got largely Islamized, I would be fine with that. The problem isn't the ahistoric outcome, it's the volume of pagans still around that indicates the system is barely working at all.

...

>I don't necessarily want historical outcomes guaranteed, just encouraged.
Yeah, that's basically what I meant. The way it would work would be a decision, which duke-or-above pagans can take to request missionaries, then rulers of non-pagan (possibly non-heretical) religions in diplo-range would be able to choose to send an envoy (max of one per religion), once they all come the pagan ruler can choose one of them, which would be based on many factors, mostly history, but if, let's say, if a Russian has a strong Sunni neighbour with 100 MA, then he might convert to that instead of the usual Orthodox.
Either way, I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, I sill have a lot to do, just wanted to hear your thoughts on the basic concept.

Im running an observe game from 867 right now just to see what you're complaining about
I assume youve already done that so do you have any pic of late game religion?

God fucking damn it.
Tried to colonize all the islands of the world, but goddamn Britain and France are fucking me up because I don't have enough range to get to the inner Caribbean sea islands, and I keep running out of money because I continually send spies to make uprisings.
FUCK.

To be a Turk is hard, because you have to fight THE whole world, but to be not a Turk is even harder, because you have to fight against them. We are THE sword of THE creator, at a moment if there is evel going THE creator gave us always the duty to fight. We didnt choose for iT, we are the chosen ones. Look at THE beauty of our glorious history.

This is the end of a 400-year timelapse I did for testing. There are three King-level Finnish pagans who rule realms that have existed for about 150 years apiece with no conversion for them in sight. There's some edge conversion but most of it was done by conquest rather than proselytizing.

>just wanted to hear your thoughts on the basic concept.
Intrigued, but also cautious. Deciding what relevance historical precedent has in these cases is difficult, to the extent that I think I'd rather have historical outcomes not play into the decision at all, but in that case how would the AI make the decision between the options? To base it on MA alone would just lead to a single religion rolling over the region, and would almost inevitably always fail to model a stable but not dominant faith, like Orthodoxy, from spreading. And other options like traits are even less reliable.

In plain speech I suppose I'd be willing to try it, though I don't really like having to rely on precedent or MA.

I am talking facts, make a researchin history, not manipulated history, THE truth nothing but THE truth, not THE history written by politicians, THE history That want iT to be so they can manipulatie you. History written by historians and you Will be with us instead of against us. During WWI so Many christians fought with us against THE evel That is still torturing THE humanity, they knew THE truth About us. At That time iT was THE same situation as Bush Said THE evel said or you are with us or against us. And killed 100+ Milyon innocent people for oil, and they did THE same in WWII killed also 100+ Milyon innocent people, gassed 6milyon jews. And still killing since 1993 starting THE gulf war, creating terorist which gives them legitemacy to act wherever they want. Afghanistan, Irak, Syria, Afrika and THE far east.

So just like real life? Norse, slavs and tengri convert just fine

>predador_de_perereca
based brazilians

Bersi of Sjaelland is turning out to be a thorn in my side. My former seneschal's war has at last come to an end and sees him as king of Noregr, his lands in Sjaelland passing from my domain. Another war is coming, so close to home, but I have little choice, it seems. If I do not take steps now, he will only grow stronger, a threat I can ill afford. As soon as my men return from iberia, I will send word to once again begin the muster.

Where the hell do I even start making the quests though? Perhaps a monastic society might be a better place to start, to learn the ropes so to speak...

Wait, that'd also mean having to come up with new relics for Norse Paganism as well! Christianity really got the lion's share of the attention, didn't it?

No, I obviously wouldn't base it on MA alone, that's just one of the factors that would influence it among many others (which mostly are still being thought out, if you have anything specific to suggest I could add it to my list).
I want to include some historical precedence so things don't get too silly, for example, a viking in the Great Britain/Ireland should essentially always convert to Christianity unless something very meaningful changes, like France or even other parts Britain being conquered by Muslims.

Sabaton is far from horseshit but I admit that their music may not fit EU4 perfectly. Out of four songs, only Art of War isn't about overly specific thing.

Discuss Grand Strategy Game soundtracks.

why does the german union have a tech/trade embargo on me when i own them as a puppet?

Started learning Victoria 2 with Brazil. Should I tax everyone into oblivion, save money and try go State Capitalist to kickstart industry or should I just hope that capitalists get that shit done?

Why are you so mean user, I just wanted a hug ;_;

Hmmmm

>14th century nip merchants
Historically plausible.

>So just like real life?
Slavs were only converted in that because it was a 1066 test where they began as Christians. Same for Norse and Tengri. In the 867 test I did, which I don't have images for any longer, the entire region was split between Slavic Pagan and Reformed Romuva. It also happens to be a problem that the Reformed Romuva didn't proselytize in that case.

>if you have anything specific to suggest I could add it to my list
That's just the thing, I can't really think of anything other than position, relative threat, and MA that it could be based upon. Maybe missionaries could be sent with bribes, with increased chances for greedy characters? Aside from that traits affecting the process are all fringe and rare or even impossible for pagans to get, like maybe celibate tending hard towards Christian religions.

>for example, a viking in the Great Britain/Ireland should essentially always convert to Christianity unless something very meaningful changes, like France or even other parts Britain being conquered by Muslims.
In that sense I agree, but that should be handled easily enough by diplo range. If the chance of conversion is increased by the volume of missionaries you receive from one religion (so say 10 different Catholic states send missionaries but you have limited range on Islamic rulers, so they send only 2), you could model the impact of surrounding religions on conversion. Might even be a way to factor strong heresies in, like a Lollard presence in the Isles or whatever.

That said, I can also see room for failure with something like that. It would still sideline religions which are tied up strongly with imperial realms, like Orthodoxy and sometimes Sunni are, and favor religions that have a large number of small realms in diplomatic range of the character requesting the missionaries.

>cheating in every possible way
Are you really that bored user

La creatura de la America

But slavs are already christians in 1066, same for the norse, what are you talking about

is that supposed to be successful reconquista

Things are starting to move apace. My son has informed me that despite the best efforts of a certain slavic noble within my court, he has stayed firm in his faith in our people's gods. I may yet turn this to my advantage too and have invited this Vysheslav to defend his faith against my questions. Given the man's limited wits, I suspect very soon he may forsake his faith completely for the strength and majesty of the Aesir.

But such things are of a secondary concern. Bagsecg of Fyn is among the traitors who seek to steal my kingdom from underneath me! For fear of their plot growing beyond my ability to curtail it, I have sent an ultimatum, to which he has refused! It is truly a shame that it is a good norse pagan who resists my authority, rather than one of my Slavic or Christian chiefs, but still, the laws of the realm mean I may now strip Fyn from him, for the greater security of the realm.

>KHALID
the fuck is going on there

based jihad thats what

Yes, that's my point. In that test those regions converted because the characters there had done so already before the game started, and it spread a bit by conquest after the fact. But if you do an 867 start, you can see there's basically no proselytization at all. Norse, Slavic, Tengri and Romuva all hold on far too long, in the case of basically all religions but Norse usually for the full length of the game, so 600 years. The system itself isn't working.

>POLAND
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH

first they inherited large galicia and then they also somehow inherited sicily which was already very strong
speaking of sicily its probably going to be the next jihad target

>Christianity really got the lion's share of the attention, didn't it?
As it should. It's a game about Crusaders after all. Tell me when you come up with something I am not really good with balancing and making names.

Idk that was never my experience honestly, but I rarely play 867 starts

Here's how my observe game is going btw
The norse conquered almost all of Brittania except for Mierce and a rump Scotland, and now with the help of religious revolt almost all the norse have been either expelled or subjugated
And meanwhile the Af Munso duke in Sweden converted to catholic around 890, but he got the prepared invasion from Rurik, so now Sweden is norse with slavic religion.
Theres a bunch of catholic counts in Kiev too so they probably accepted missionaries.

Not sure how it is in game, but those Slavs in today Mecklenburg and parts of Brandenburg were still pagan in 1066. Some of their rulers were baptized, but pretty much all population and local elites were pagan.

Also, parafucks should add this en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duchy_of_Kopanica and the area around Berlin as separate province, to make that horrible Brandenburg smaller, instead of adding pointless (and also ugly and wrongly placed) provinces in Poland.

See how it goes over the long-term. If proselytization does take hold, I'll go back and do some more timelapses of it myself to make sure the three I did weren't flukes. But given that the HIP team is trying to do something about this too, I think the problem is more legitimate than not, and success may be more the exception than the rule.

That or perhaps they snuck a partial or total fix into the newest Hydra version, which I haven't looked at yet.

>should I just hope that capitalists get that shit done?
no because they'll build clipper factories in 1932, also it's not recommended to build factories in th early game since output will be low and artisans will probably outproduce your industries.

bls resbond
HoI4 looks good, what's the difference between it and HoI3?

>Maybe missionaries could be sent with bribes
That's one of the things I already had thought, actually, missionaries could be sent with some gold as "gifts", with varying value, to increase the chances.
>you could model the impact of surrounding religions on conversion
I could probably check for province religions in the diplo-range, and while it should sort most things out, I still like the idea of having historical weight, there are few enough pagan regions that I don't have to make everything purely dynamic.
One thing I wanted to do was adding a big chance to a religion if a former pagan with the same culture already converted to it, so religions would truly spread, and you wouldn't have Muslim Russians fighting against christian Russians and the such, although I'm not sure if I should do it or if it's completely accurate.
I'm going to sleep for a bit so I probably won't respond until later.

first time playing, I want to learn the mechanics

>I want to learn the mechanics
>disable the mechanics
???

One of these?

>One thing I wanted to do was adding a big chance to a religion if a former pagan with the same culture already converted to it
That's one element I would be strongly against, because in such a case the conversion of one landed noble from a huge culture group like Russian would practically seal the final fate of the region. For areas where conversion is in question the outcome shouldn't be guaranteed after the first success, and the culture should even need to fight within itself to construct its final identity.

I think title history could play a role, though. If there was a prior ruler that held your top title and was of a reformed religion, you could, say, have an increased chance to convert if he died with positive prestige, and a decreased chance if he died with negative. That would let major conversions which clearly effected the history of a region or title already have their due weight without tying it to something as diffuse as culture.

I'm also going to take a nap now, so I'll check back in a few hours.

Anyone down for some CK2 HiP online? Got three peeps already.

A vision of great beauty has come to my court, on the verge of such ugliness. A sorceress from my lands has come to my attention with the power to see the future. Though I had thought first only of the use for such a power, I was unprepared when I summoned her. A more striking woman I have seldom to find and for all she lived simply, she carries herself with the grace of a great queen. Perhaps in addition to serving as the vola of my court, she might yet make a fitting concubine for my son...

Hey user just wanted to say I've been enjoying your posts for the past week thanks bruv are you planning to convert this over to EU4

Howdy, germanic servants! Check it out, I'm made of gold!

It is amazing indeed. Gold is a very valuable commodity. You are very powerful and I have no choice but to submit to my servile instincts and become your vassal.
