Go full non-fiction and have them resurrect,
have either user die and join her in a happy afterlife or aim for bittersweet. Could also just cheat and say it wasn't real or it was in turn a sad fic being written by one of the characters who enjoyed the outlet it provided and learned to value what they had more from it.
The struggle that previously comprised the weight of the fic can be turned into the middle part that makes the eventual payoff happier, as long as the struggle ends.

The club has been overrun by atrocious creatures of my past. While it is most regrettable, heroes and mercenaries are purging them as we speak. Upon returning they will surely expect stories to soothe their ravaged nerves.
Writing those is a venerated task, one we here take upon ourselves. We would be most beholden if you too could contribute to this noble undertaking.
Creating quality works may seem an insurmountable challenge, hardened only by the worry of sharing your writing, but reserve your fears, for poets of all issue are welcome here, from hopeful amateurs to hardened veterans.
The words hoisted above serve as a guidance to all aspiring poets, allowing them to converge their efforts around a particular subject. This encourages discussion and allows drawing comparisons.
