But the real question is, will the DW9 guys make it in with DW8 versions of their weapons?

Now consider the fact that a vast amount of Dynasty Warriors players, outside of threads such as these, are as casual as one could possibly be about the series. Hence, even the characters who often get the spotlight are viewed no different than the most shallow of cast members. At which point, the cast of characters are only conduits for their weapons. In this scenario, removing weapons, even in favor of a better combat system, is the equivalent to removing characters. Essentially, Koei's biggest mistake was how they managed the franchise until 9's release.

I didn't expect it to be good but I was surprised. I thought that fighting was going to be available for missions and all there was going to be nothing but wildlife in the open world. I'm enjoying this game so much because there are so many dudes to kill. I have 90 hours of playtime and I haven't gone past chapter 6 because I've been playing other characters (3 so far). The only negatives I have for this game is that the textures load slow, english dub is cringe, friendly AI is stupider than enemy AI, and the game is only stable at 30 fps. Overall I'm quite enjoying this shitty console port.

We all know its pretty much correct to assume that WO4 is happening only because of DW9s ultimate failure. With a 2018 release window, its also more or less confirmed that the game will be composed almost entirely of reused assets (though i guess thats not much of a surprise, really). The question is what assets will be reused, and from what? Are they going to copypaste WO3 and just add the characters from DW8, SW4 et al, and AllStars? Will the SW cast have their Hyper movesets? Will they actually go full ballsy and paste the DW9 versions of everyone, clones across the board? Will guests/not-Warriors become paid DLC to recover budget? How safe is WO4 from Koei?

It's not unthinkable really for DW9 characters to get into Orochi 4 with the old charge attack system. Remember, Zhou Cang was in All Stars. Which reminds me, if Orochi gets general acclaim, say good bye to flow state combo.

But you have multiple objectives in DW9, some of them even have their own cutscenes and a change to the dialogues within the end of a mission.
Yes, they're optional but if you're just ignoring them you can only blame yourself for missing out. It's stupid that they're objective but since people seem to hate the open world so much they might as well skip the other objectives within the game some of them are not even given to you, you have to reach the location to trigger them
There's very little drama to it. We get introduced to a character and then straight away at the end of the first battle it's like "also he died after this scene".
Due to how the clan's stories play out, that was a given, there's not enough time to make you care for the characters. The only deaths that I actually feel anything are Toyohisa's and Naotora's, strangely enough.
Considering Zhou Cang had a traditional moveset in All Stars, how simple would it be to incorporate the DW9 new people in? I'd imagine there wouldn't be much hassle getting Xu Sheng, Cao Xiu, Man Chong and Xun You in as their weapons are akready unique if their clones go back to their DW8 weapons but what about Cheng Pu?
