>and realized that I don't want to be a giant sellout
The trick is to sell-out hardcore, use your money to purchase a house so the one big expense is out the way, stick the rest in conservative investments to pay your food and bills, and then make games that don't make you feel dirty.

Jack James
That kind of dirt never washes off.
Carter Lopez
Even if you sell out your dreams of retiring off of one game are dumb as shit Might as well make games you actually want to make that people might be actually interested in since you'll see similar results regardless
Jackson Jones
Dumb if you're incompetent and retarded, like you
Hudson Thomas
I got an idea that would make a lot of money but it's a mobile version of an already popular game
So it's 100% shameful to do
Connor Gomez
>mobile
Won't make a lot of money unless you have millions to pump into marketing
Alexander Morris
Link your genius sellout game, then
Jaxson Johnson
>being this jealous
kek
Grayson Baker
have fun being sued
Colton Scott
What's the legality of having a small section of a game that's 100% a homage to a game with its gameplay in its entirety? It would show up 3 or 4 times total in the game. Should I expect to be sued?
Jordan Williams
Can someone try out my win64 version and tell me if it crashes or boots up. Try out the terrain edititng too, its pretty cool. jaboct.com/foo/download
Jeremiah Davis
You can't copyright game mechanics Change the name to synonyms and don't reuse their art
Dominic Thomas
>let's blame the tools, not the shitty programmers!
genius. I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier.
Josiah Nguyen
what if the art is very similar?
Asher Roberts
>No game >Reddit spacing
Brayden Perry
Is that a fact? The game itself is the only one I know that's like it, and it recently had a re-release, so I thought there might be something about copyrighting specific gameplay. I remember that fiasco with interactive loading screens...
Easton Myers
it boots up but then you cant do shit because it slows down the entire system i had to wait 10 seconds for task manager to open to kill it
Eli Jones
If you want to make an area that's like Metal Gear on MSX with Metal Gear on MSX-like sprites you should be fine as long as you don't actually have straight up rips or tracejobs of art or music Basically constitutes as parody
Brandon Young
Alright thank you. One of my machine it works perfect on. Another it works but the terrain isnt rendering cuz it doesnt have opengl 4.3.
Did it render anything for you?
Lincoln Fisher
I changed my graphic card and now it opened fine but as soon as i started going forward distant terrain started to glitch the fuck out and when i clicked LMB app just crashed
Noah Allen
you delete this image right now
Lucas Young
Alright thanks again. Ill look into that. Im surprised lbm crashed an not right. lmb just moves the camera.
How about a zombie game where you also have to manage your warmth (like in Lost Planet) and also have to contend with the wildlife?
Zachary Kelly
Dude you need at least a screenshot if you're gonna drop an executable on people.
Also what do you mean "background"???
Jaxon Morris
Yeah, it'd just be a few areas with different gameplay, and it wouldn't necessarly be 1:1 since I'd like to improve on the core gameplay still.
Wild Guns
Thomas Ross
>take a concept which is perceived as overdone >add generic survival meters I don't think so
Jaxon Ross
I suppose you're right. Back to the drawing board.
Eli Hughes
Good point.
Everything behind the main focus of the game, at the moment there's just skybox but I want to convey an 'open area' effect without having to make too many assets.
It would have been nice if they were made to fit into the backgrounds more naturally. Then again, the overall look of tilesets and areas in Iconoclasts have a pretty cube-like appearance, so they aren't too out-of-place.
Jaxon Perez
>gamemaker doesn't have a way to convert an array to a string so my text parser works in quadratic time fucking
Jack Barnes
Screen by screen a la Links Awakening or Player always in the center of the screen a la Pokemon?
Can someone lay down the pros and cons of each?
Christopher Gonzalez
screen by screen HUGE pro = less stuff loaded at a time
>Screen by screen -Allows for "clear the entire room to go on" more naturally -Makes boundaries of puzzles more clear -Severely limits ability to just kite monsters/avoid them entirely (or as the first point, makes it impossible) -Faster to load (only comes into account for bad devs really)
>Always center -Less being jolted by screen changes -Always 100% obvious where the player is (in visually noisy action games it can be easy to lose where you are)
Hmm kinda can't think of anything else. Just going on feeling alone... they each create their own unique sort of feeling. Can't quite put it into words.
Henry Howard
looks bad and it's confusing for no reason
Nathaniel Barnes
They're waaaay too bright, removing them altogether would also feel odd tho imo
Nolan Rivera
Thanks a lot
Aiden Reyes
Got the last couple things going for this dungeon. Also think I'll just use this for a dungeon song: clyp.it/a5mmm15e
Why is it so ugly compared that the other game? Can't you just merge the two projects, basically making anubis with those stellar graphics you are able to do?
Angel Jackson
That jumping looks awful, and I beat original la mulana
Blake Hernandez
>head hits ceiling but continues floating up anyway this is your brain on dog dick
David Bennett
You can run past the traps without taking damage. I was just doing it sloppily to show things work. That's just like, your opinion, man. It's alright. Clipping the ceiling on the first jump there probably makes it look worse. Realistic physics, these are not.
Daniel Sullivan
>Realistic physics, these are not. At least make them as good as la mulana, seriously
Bentley Butler
the big thing is the branch, going from fore-ground to back-ground, can uou go past that branch? does it block your path? can you use it to go downwards into the foreground? can you use it to go upwards into the background?
Jack Sanchez
I'm lost on rotating my player in their direction of movement and am now stuck with tank controls. What's wrong with my code here? if (HorizontalInput!=0||VerticalInput!=0) { //TODO: Make player rotate in movement direction instead of rotating like a tank
It's just foreground, it's not tangential. Iconoclasts has a lot of that.
Aiden White
The ones at the bottom look a lot more integrated to the ground than the ones you see on the left and right But if you remove them you end up with big swathes of blandness so I see why the guy would put them there
Gay furries is less degenerate that pedophilia, since that's literally degenerate as it's a relic of societies gone past. Gay furries the way of the future I guess.
Jonathan Peterson
>relic of societies gone past >degenerate fuck you and the shitpost you rode in on
Anthony Peterson
skyrim but everyone is a loli and there are no bugs
