For all newcomers, Armored Core and all JP mecha discussion here. You are welcome to shill western stuff with JP influence. We can talk about Ace combat as well and puchi posting is fine too.
If you're curious about playing the Armored Core series then please watch this video which has fantastic highlights of the series. youtube.com/watch?v=xFJZGyCzIFI
BEFORE YOU PROCEED LISTEN TO OUR THEME SONG!!! instaud.io/jzI
AC pastebin: pastebin.com/eXbPt1yd Read that if you have any questions. If the pastebin doesn't answer whatever question you may have feel free to ask us in the thread.
>If you're curious about playing the Armored Core series then please watch this video which has fantastic highlights of the series. thanks, although I do wonder if a video like this could actually get some people to try out AC
Liam Nelson
Sometimes people are curious but not enough to put in effort, you know. So I think it'll help.
For the sake of discussion and curiosity, what's the relevancy of your name, and presumably everyone else' (B+ Ranker, Old Man Ahab, etc...)? Are they just names for using in the thread or are they for setting up games via PS3/360?
Ryder Davis
Chromehounds, come back :(
Jonathan Parker
My name was born when someone was giving ranks to my posts
Ryan Morgan
I want to play some of the Front Mission games but don't really want to start right at the beginning, are the first few games absolutely required or is there other good starting points?
Levi Mitchell
You can play 3, 4 and 5 in any order you want. You can ignore the first two games.
FM4 is my favorite game of all time, tied with Demon's Souls.
Also FM Evolved is pretty fun.
I came into these threads a long time ago and saw people dropping names and not giving people shit for it so I just used my username that I use in a lot of games.
Well shit, I might as well join in on the naming fun since Xez so kindly put my video in the OP. I'll make more AC videos, but I don't know if I want to do another music video or try something else whatever it may be.
Austin Cook
Seeing how thematic DS and Bloodborne are. Any ideas for what kind of themes could the next AC game use?
Colton Peterson
I wouldn't mind another all controlling AI endgame boss like AC3 or Silent Line. Maybe a dystopia city kind of like blade runner where you're going through a street crowded with fleeing people and destroying some black market merchandise on a run away truck or something.
oh man, hope things pick up here. What kind of things would be needed to get more traction here? putting the PS2 titles to PS4? porting 4 and 4A to current gen?

Advertising/building up hype in the west
Jason Robinson
A new game would definitely bring people. It will all happen in due time, but meanwhile, let us make maymays and content for future newbies.
Joshua Parker
some advertisement for once could be good, and maybe making some remakes/remaster
Benjamin Edwards
thats the idea, but who knows. I was shocked to find out that there was almost no advertising for the games even though i played the shit out of them when i was younger. my only fix for this game is the psp port of 3, which...its fine, but could do with a port or remaster, maybe get people to play it.
Gabriel Gray
>I was shocked to find out that there was almost no advertising for the games even though i played the shit out of them when i was younger.
only a special kind of kids manage to either find and get interest on this serie.
Nathan Lopez
had my neighbor to thank for that, he had a massive collection of games for whatever PS console was out, and he had all of it, which i would borrow from him one game at a time and play the shit out of them and when i beat them id move onto the next one. to this day me and him still play games together and hope for older games we loved to come back.
Oliver Robinson
that sounds like of the best friendships ever.
Adam Rogers
Thinking about it, I suppose streamers could bring in people. Get a decent following with some other games then play AC from time to time, or just only play AC and wrangle people in with good commentary.
Hudson Collins
but isnt most streamers either speedruns (that AC would be a bad choice for it), silly commentaries and jokes, or sexy gamer chicks doing no-porn.
Hudson Cooper
ehhhh. i watch like 3 streamers because they are simply chill and like to simply relax. they dont over hype scream shit like the typical battle royale shitter. Getting someone like that and getting them off the ground so others can see this person do like, a sorta challenge run of an armored core game? Like blade only or a pure grenade run or something like that, but i dont know.
Daniel Cook
Meh, I dont really watch streams, unless I am interest on a game but I am not sure on how it plays, but convincing someone to try a AC game, by my experience on the internet and RL, is hard, people dont really get the idea of a complex "build your own robot"
Connor Roberts
To each their own, there is a wide range of people in the world, one of them is bound to entertain you
Carson Bennett
on that note, ive personally only ever heard like, a hand full of streamers ever mention ac at all. most just say what.
the guys goes out of his way to make all those comparison because most people finds AC confusing for some reason
Christian Barnes
i did see that vid, fucking jarring when out of no where someone brings in AC to a vid, especially to a series that alot of people watch. usually dont like watching vids like that but saw the ac on it and said "fuck it ill give it a wack"
Brandon Perez
the last part, where he just want more people to try the game and talk about it, always gets me
Juan Turner
AC is weird to get used to, especially if you don't know you can rebind the controls in-game.
Kayden Edwards
was that an issue people had? the controls?
Daniel Diaz
Probably, weird controls can put people off, and since you start the game in a mission you can't really control them so people may have jumped ship right then and there.
And for people looking a bit deeper, all the stats and numbers may have driven more off.
Alright guys, I think I know how we can get more people into Armored Core, watch this: >die for the first time >get sent back to garage >achievement unlocked >"Welcome to Armored Core"
how early back did you guys get into the series? started at 3 and played every one since, except for SL and 2 or 2AA, still gotta go back and play those.
Angel Stewart
I only got into in either late 2015 or 2016. I started with AC1 and was so shit and made a shitty enough build that I couldn't beat the game, so I just skipped ahead to AC2, I plan to tackle the 1st gen again once I'm finished with 3rd gen.
Would you actually be interested in watching an AC stream? I've streamed some of it for a friend before, I could just post it here too next time. Wish I had more AC games to play blindly though, all I have left are a couple routes of Last Raven (and the non-PSP games that I can't emulate well).
Dominic Thompson
Not a bad idea but it's kinda tacky, dark souls 2 did the same iirc
Jose Wood
2017. Tried For Answer first then came back for the old games.
I think an AC stream needs some kind of challenge or gimmick to be really interesting. Speedruns are fine too
Aaron Rivera
I started with AC2AA when my mom bought it for me for Christmas with a PS2 and I've played every game besides 1st gen and the mobile game. Also, good luck on beating Last Raven.
I suppose, really depends on time cause who knows what the fuck anybody is doing whenever
>good luck It'll be a cakewalk
Xavier Cook
I started when I was like four or five years old with the first AC game. I could never get past the first couple missions even though I must have accidentally unlocked Human+ at some point. It was still one of my favorite games ever though and I could just sit there playing it for hours and failing the same starter missions over and over again and never get bored of it. Mecha autism is serious business.
Jonathan Powell
>Page 10 already I guess after all this time, I really have become.................. the last raven
