why were jews always persecuted throughout history? from what i can tell pretty much every country has expelled them at some point. hell they supposedly even started out as slaves.
i know at some point pretty much every group of people has been treated like shit but it seems like jews have been treated pretty bad throughout their entire history
1. They always rebelled, usually for religious reasons, like against the Romans and Babylonians, hence leading to whatever imperial power governed them to get fed up and crush them into dust. Other colonial provinces fell in line usually, but the Jews kept starting rebellions.
2. Christians were forbidden from usury, i.e. charging extensive interest on loans. Thus Jews took this up as an occupation, charging large amounts of interest on loans they gave. This gave the public perception of them as stingy moneygrabbers who like to manipulate money and rip people off, and are only concerned with gold.
3. They are very insular. They didn't like associating with non-Jews and outside peoples, always harboring a contempt for non-Jews. This, combined with their minority status, made them very easy to hate.
4. Their Talmud book contains numerous hateful references to Christ, along with their reputation for having killed Christ.
5. Involvement in various political conspiracies, from communism to bolshevist uprisings, which targeted Christian churches and traditional social heierarchy.
6. Their involvement in communism which led to genocide of millions of Christians.
7. The influence of powerful families such as the Rothschilds in influencing international politics and profiting off war.
Josiah Lewis
>Jews acquire a bunch of money from usury >monarch can't manage finances >hmm, maybe I should ask the Jews, they have a lot of money >sure your majesty, let's do the usual rate of ten percent per year for the loan, and you can pay us back next year, okay? >Okay :) >a year passes >Your majesty, where is the money we loaned you? >Your money? You filthy Jews, all you think of is money! Get out of my fucking throneroom, Christkillers! >monarch proceeds to expel Jews
and repeat
Jews are like a cheat code for 1,000 free gold in Age of Empires

1. Jews were a religious and and linguistic minority no matter where they went (they weren't really linguistic minorities in Germany but Yiddish is still noticeably different from standard High German). 2. They a reputation for being "greedy" thanks to retarded medieval finance laws. 3. Jewish communities were typically insular and had limited interaction with the outside world, fueling distrust among the non-Jewish population. This causes the general population to become even more antisemitic, which causes the Jewish communities to become even more insular... you get the idea. 4. Jews would often immigrate en mass to surrounding countries after being expelled. If you don't understand how this would fuel hatred and mistrust (leading to yet more expulsions), you need to take a closer look at what's going on with MENA refugees in modern-day Europe. 5. Even Jews that converted to Christianity and attempted to assimilated could be treated badly - the treatment of the "New Christians" in Spain is a good example of this. This would discourage Jews from attempting to integrate, as there was no guarantee that this would result in them being accepted as equals by the general population. However, converting would guarantee that they could no longer interact with the local Jewish community, who would view him negatively for obvious reasons (the converso had essentially told his entire community to go fuck themselves.)
As an addendum: >spend nearly 900 years persecuting Jews and telling them to "leave" every country in Europe >Jews finally get fed up and start their own state in their ancestral homeland >all of a sudden they are considered "white colonialists" and are lambasted for "oppressing" the local Arab population
Jack Reyes
>Kings borrow from Jewish money lenders because Christians can't lend money >King falls into debt because of war or idiotic spending >King doesn't want/can't pay back the debt or the interest >King makes up a reason to kick out the Jews based on Christ killing/poisoning wells/evil meme >King keeps money and has no more debt
Rinse and repeat. Plus they were an easy target.
Nathaniel Ramirez
This reminds me of the old saying: If you meet an asshole in a day, it just means you met an asshole, if you keep meeting assholes daily, then the asshole is yourself.
Nolan Cook
These fall apart because they act as though anti-Jewish sedement is some sort of post-Christian phenomena. Numerous documentation exist—a lot from the Jews themselves (what is book of Esther)—about people hating the Jews, before Christ was born, largely for the same reasons people hated the Jews after Christ was born (minus them murdeing God of course, an exclusively Christian charge by its nature).
Nolan Mitchell
Because their religion is inherently racist (thank you Adonai for making me a Jew and not a hot) and they killed jesus
>why were jews always persecuted throughout history?
They weren't. This is a meme. Yes they've been persecuted many times, but that's because they've been around for thousands of years and lived as a minority in hundreds of countries. Even if everything is fine 99.9% of the time, that's still a lot of shit happening to them.
Isaiah Collins
are you implying that bronze and iron age empires brutally persecuting a conquered people is a unique experience to ancient jews?
Because it most certainly was not.
Matthew Gray
>are you implying that bronze and iron age empires brutally persecuting a conquered people is a unique experience to ancient jews?
Not at all.
Kayden Moore
Alot of the accusations towards the Jews (unfriendly towards foreigners, loyal to the tribe over the nation, strange religion, refusing to follow laws and customs of the host nation, et al) all date from before Christ.
>visible minority >laws often prohibited limited what professions they could engage in >focus on literacy and education allowed them to rise to niche/enviable positions >minority status meant that they naturally sought to subvert traditions and their concomitant prejudices >exceptionalism led them to be somewhat insular, so not much intermarriage with locals >killed Jesus
There's no smoke without fire, but people on the whole tend to overreact to perceived threats, so the Jews got is in the neck harder than they actually deserved or was required.
Colton Ramirez
>i know at some point pretty much every group of people has been treated like shit but it seems like jews have been treated pretty bad throughout their entire history it's probably rather that unlike the others they've survived it and also not lost the identity somewhere else
Evan Torres
They've been perceived as the definition of a fifth column becuase their coethnic relationships lend to parallel societies that are in practice, anti-majority.
Aiden Carter
so basically everything they say about muslims today.
Ryder Brooks
because they tried to start shit with the early christian church.
>Jesus preached >the first christians were jews who listened to him and continued his teachings >orthodox jews tried to wipe them out > christians opened the church to non-jews, quickly became more numerous >bishops remembered the jews both asking for Jesus' death and trying to wipe out christians and so told their followers that jews were the enemy
what's hard to understand?
they started major beef with the organization that would become the most powerful religious group in the world and refused to assimilate
Julian Flores
>commit usury, even in ancient times pre-christ >literally have the Talmud that advocates usury against non-jews >expect this not to end in continued persecution over and over
No, it was largely due to Christ's throwing the MoneyChangers out of the temple and continually preaching against usury. >usury, the very fabric of Judaism's physical fortune
Zachary Fisher
Why wouldnt you hate the same very people that killed jesus?
Luke Foster
Well if you want to believe the bible is truth and that god is a wrathful god like in the first testament with all the killing fire and flashing then its possible he persecutes the jews after killing his son. Probably hasn't let that shit go and holds a grudge.
Also seeing how they felt jesus was not really the son of god and believe he was a fake they talk shit about him also that people in general thing that jesus who seemed like a chill dude got killed for literally doing the just b urself meme and the jewish religion thinks that was not okay.
Michael Fisher
*Enters* "Robin Jews"
LMAO! had my dying
Nathan Thompson
had it pretty much down. just want to add that Christian ruled Europe during the developing stages of the modern world aka Middle Ages did not help at all. Look into Persecuting society by R.I. Moore. great read, he highlights Europe as dominated by the Church and has a lot on jews in there too.
On my own research i can tell you that it wasnt every single kingdom in europe that used jewish money lending, most common users of jews for money lending was England ie william the conqueor brought them in. and parts of nothern france. also Jewish "guilds" (calling it guilds because idk what the proper term is) had an extensive network of trade and without them we wouldn't have the crown jewels of England and France and Spain.
Jewish money lending was replaced by Christian Bonds after mid 1200's and their reputation had tarnished by then in France and England anyways for these horror stories about Jews going in the night and ripping lil christian boys penis' off. (not kidding, real thing)
we also see things like the Rhineland massacre take place where Jewish towns are raided in the Rhineland during the Crusades by returning Butthurt Crusaders who didn't kill any Muslims so they go for the next best thing. they basically rape and pillage and steal.
but this is just the middle ages im talking about.
Elijah Smith
Because they live by themselves in their own ghettos (disregard that it was illegal for them to live anywhere else), they only marry each other (disregard that it was illegal for them to marry anyone else), they dress differenly to the rest of us (disregard that it's illegal for them to dress like gentiles), and they all have sleazy, disreputable jobs that make good money (disregard that it's illegal for them to do any other jobs). They're so wierd and different!
Check out the numbers of people being killed or deported when that contextless list of places gets posted again. I imagine that most cases it's people using an existing crisis or event as an excuse to get rid of the 4 jews who live up the street (shops incidentally everyone owes money ).
Jackson Rodriguez
Weren't the Rhineland massacres carried out by crusaders ON THE WAY to the holy land, not only the way back?
Joseph Jenkins
>Jesus HAD to die to save our souls! >JEWS KILLED JESUS!!!!! HATE THEM FOREVER!!!!!!!!
Hunter Wilson
might be... ill have to check!
Hopefully im right dont want to misinform anyone.
James Gonzalez
Communist regimes weren't exactly kind to Jews, either.
Lucas Wood
Yeah, looks like it happened throughout the call of the first Crusade but the initial instance where the most damage was dealt was before the crusade. so youre right! thanks for the fact check user!
Andrew Roberts
>jews start embracing greek culture >conservative jewish hardlines start civil war >Antiochus IV gets tired of the shit and starts banning jewish culture >conservative jews eventually win and massacre all liberal jews and greeks >proceed to genocide samaritans and other semitic people around Jerusalem
Oy vey Antiochus IV was anoddah shoah! Remember the temple!
Gavin Barnes
This is nonsense, the Persian empire did not persecute the Jews. They even took breaks on Jewish holy days, gave them their own hierarchy and autonomy in Mesopotamia for centuries.
Jordan Rodriguez
Originally the Hebrews were called the Habiru (which means something like "bandits" in Akkadian). They weren't an ethnic group but just a gang of criminals, rejects, and other scum from all over the Middle East, who banded together and would drift around living like Gypsies, as beggars, thieves, mercenaries, or murderers. With time they merged into a kind of new ethnicity of their own, and most notably adopted a common and unique religion which is what grew into Judaism. A religion based on the exclusive worship of one deity over all others, in exchange for exclusive protection from that deity.
When the Egyptian New Kingdom collapsed, the Hebrews managed to carve themselves a country out of former Egyptian clay: the kingdom of Israel. But this only comforted their religion as their attributed their success to it, and they forever continued their scummy ways, always behaving like the parasitic underclass they had been originally.
