If another religion is true then believing in the christian god could land you in eternal torture as well.

Bizarro Christianity

It sends Atheists to heaven and Christians to hell

There are more religions than christianity, effectivelly reducing your chances of "eternal joy" to laughably small one.

not so fast

>not believing in a religion sincerely but because of some egotistical wager

This is why God is dead

Don't forget that expected value is negative for every bet.

>tfw agnostic

>-666

this, frankly

So wait, what is the expected value? Just a summation of the values of each? How does one put a numerical value on the afterlife?

believing in god just to escape eternal hell won't fool an omnipotent god

People are confused!
God condemns those who don't believe in the divinity of Jesus unless they have a good excuse!
The only plausible excuse is if you believe God will send you to hell forever for believing in Jesus, which no religion claims.

Pascal wager lives on amidst many religions!

It's weighted average of outcomes. In fair situation where all outcomes are equal it is just an average of all them. For example, because there is a zero on roullete, expected value is negative, so casino always wins in the long run.

> which no religion claims
I created the one just now, had prophetic vision of it second ago so it is totally legit.

But then you would have to honestly believe in that religion!
Watch out heathens!

In order to enjoy said eternal joy you need to waste your potentially finite life - the only thing you can be certain of at this point - with religious service, so it's not like it comes for free.

You can still sin until you get older, where you repent for your young hedonistic life style.
Just hope you don't die in a freak accident.

I am professional prophet. It isn't my job to believe. I am messenger first and mostly. I can't prefer one religion to another, as all Gods are my clients. It's a crucious part of our modern, professional ethics.

Spaghetti monster created the universe
if you don't obey spaghetti monster laws you're going to an arcade to play games for eternity,
obviously that means you now have to decide if you want to play arcade games for eternity or not

I see no evidence of spaghetti monster.
Jesus talked to us with a brilliant ministry.
One would be a fool to disregard it full heartedly when so much is on the line.

lol

> I see no evidence of spaghetti monster.
*tips cross*
You must be blind to deny the truth.

I know none of you are going to believe me, but I've actually talked to God. I ate a weird mushroom in a park when I was like 16, and He appeared to me as a burning maple tree. I was like, dude, God, what do you have to do to get into heaven?

Turns out that virtuous Christians get sent straight to heaven. Virtuous atheists get asked "So, you admit you were wrong?" and as soon as they say yes they get to go to heaven too. Fake Christians who only pretended to believe out of self-interest get dropped through a trapdoor to hell where they get force-fed boiling shit through a tube for all eternity.

So much for Pascal's Wager, I guess.

god is dead brah just get over it

>He thinks God gave humans souls
>He thinks humans get another life

If you're an atheist and a good guy, you still go to heaven in most christian denominations.

Even if you organize something as a limited set of outcomes, it doesn't make them all equi-probable, e.g. you buy a lottery ticket, so you either win millions or you don't. Are your chances of winnng millions "50%"? How about this: you're either a simulation created by sentient unicorns, or you're not. Is the probability 50%? Sometimes the likelihood of an outcome is extremely small, sometimes it's actually 0%. You should base your beliefs off of evidence and reasoning, not childish mind-games that have been refuted for centuries.

Pascal assumed that the two outcomes were equiprobable due to uncertainty.

There is no "you're wrong" for atheism.

The Christian god is infinitely forgiving and accepting. Out right rejecting his existence because of doubt is not a good enough reason to send you to hell forever.

The God depicted by Jesus is incredibly cruel.
Burns you alive for calling someone stupid.

Pascal's wager was a jest though.

>forever
heh

What about if you're a christian and a bad guy
