>tfw you'll never remove street scum

Why are american subways so trash compared to European ones? I've never seen any trashy graffiti in the Moscow metro for example. It's just a beautiful marvel of engineering.

Is it just niggers?

Yes
Also the subways are way more clean these days, back in the 70's New York was way more trashy than it is now

why would I want to live in a shithole?

Pleb.

I hope these thugs were arrested

Watched a pretty entertaining documentary about the gangs of New York in that time period not long ago.

Thank Christ for that. New York used to be a fucking shithole, even worse than Detroit.

no cameras back then. less security

Anyone watch the Seven Five Documentary? It's a documentary about corrupt cops in the 80s
> The documentary centers around Michael Dowd, a police officer working in the 75th Precinct in crime-ridden East New York. Dowd began stealing money from drug dealers and eventually recruited his partner into an expanding criminal ring, leading to their arrest in 1992.
It was actually pretty interesting. They got an interview with a Drug Lord and he talked about killing some guy and it was honestly crazy how he just laughed about it.

I'll check that out.

Check out this documentary about '77 NYC:

My dad came to this country(legally) in the 80's and lived through the crack epidemic. He says he got mugged a lot and drugs were much more rampant(obviously), one story he narrated to me involved him delivering pharmaceutical drugs to apartment housing and seeing needles and other shit laying around everywhere. NYC is Disneyland now according to him.

Looks literally shit. What's your deal, OP?

>I wish I was dead. Oy!

Just slipping this in here.

>visiting Philly because my friend is a DNC delegate
>staying with onee-san in her apartment in Chinatown above a Hello Kitty Store
>everything smells like raw garbage
>homeless man sleeping outside her building
>she tells me that he's usually peaceful but sometimes pulls knives out at people randomly
>see him on my way back from picking up wings at 7/11
>run

Was New York in the 70s more dangerous than Philadelphia today?

Well, the peak crime rate started in the 80's during crack epidemic, that's when NYC was "the big bad city". I don't think Philly is that bad, desu. The crime has mostly moved to places like Newark and Chicago.

Philly is actually peaceful for as nasty as it is. If you're not part of the gang war no one really wants to fuck with you. But you gotta carry yourself with swagger. There's a weird pride there that makes the city salvagable.

southie chicago is insane.

north side st louis is one of the worst but its not nearly as large as some of the other troubled metros.

Thank God.

It really is niggers. Public transport in places without many niggers, like Phoenix, is pretty clean.

Try Detroit or Cleveland.

It was a once in a lifetime decade.

Disco, Punk, Street Crime, sex rings, all sorts of fucked up shit to porn cinemas with middle-aged men jacking off next to each other. Not to mention the strange nature of all these different gangs who look absurd nowadays but were running rings around the police back then.

Just something I would have liked to have experienced.

mhm tell us more Vlad

>NYC is Disneyland now according to him.
thanks to weed

New York was a fucking hellhole

Drug dealers and thugs everywhere

Mafia ran everything

Apathetic citizens

Porno theaters in Times Square

Extremely corrupt police

Petty crime so common people just shrug it off and laugh

>You will never be as handsome as Swan

Literally Mexico city in the 70's wew

He's right man.

t. been to both America and Russia

People in America are creative and like to express that. Unfortunately many of those creative people aren't very skilled. Also being disrespectful little shits is glorified in urban culture

I live in 2010s Detroit, same thing

me too where you at?

Wayne.

Look at the Russian metro stations though, their beautiful

My cousin was there singing disco at clubs filled with drugs, sex and liberation. Yeah it was dirty and dangerous but that's NYC today away from the fucking Midwestern and New England fags who sanitize it.

The neighborhoods were families, clannish and economic microcosms of ethnic enclaved families all struggling to make something for themselves.

Now below 42nd it's a playground of the world elites children and grand children.

Suburb fags are so droll

Graffiti is the everyman's message board, Rome's monuments are filled with lewd, shrewd and rude prole commentary.

That's because Russia is a shitty Monocultural Hellhole with no outlet for creative marginalized youths to frustrate their angst at a government that hates them.

Graffiti is just one of the many perks of diversity, ask the Romans

I'd criticize you, but a dung beetle can't help eating shit. That's what it does

Americans are just barbarian savages in general with no respect for public services or transportation.

ok, I'm just outside the city. between 10 and 11 mile on Woodward.

All the freedom and individualism went to their heads

It lays its eggs in shit, it doesn't eat it.
And some dung beetles are fucking legit.

...

il never get stabbed for my wallet in downtown manhattan for my wallet.

whoopie

>$116
>assuming 1980, $340 now
>advertised on the subway

>implying graffiti isn't one of the best features of urban living

>tfw

Brutalism was a mistake.

Niggers

>Philly is actually peaceful for as nasty as it is
Sure it is nigger.

Pleb

t. Nigger

???

ITT: people who have never been to new york

t. New Yorker

This.

The trick to ending a nigger problem is to make it too expensive for niggers to live there.

cocaine ruined street gangs

The nigger cancer is still a problem outside of nigger infested areas.

The authoritarian policing methods helped too. NYC practically abolished the fourth amendment with their "stop and frisk" policy.

Thank god. My dad visited in the early 80s and he said Taxi Driver was a pretty accurate representation of what he saw. Stripped cars sitting on the side of the highway and other Mad Max shit like that. I know it was worse in the 80s than it was in the 70s, but the 70s were no picnic either.

There is no evidence stop and frisk helped anything.

I think you're confused.

abdul and his friends did get to heaven though :^)

Move to Cleveland or Detroit then. It's basically NYC before gentrification, nothing but niggers, crime, urbsn rot, trash heaps and drugs.

It's not brutalism, it's international style

Though from the 90s, this song takes my brain there.

The samples come from 70s songs.

The samples come from a variety of decades, but yes, there is a tendency to orbit around the 70s which is why that song in particular feels like the sort of decay in OP's image.

To me at least.

It can't be just niggers, though, because the metro I'm Washington DC is very nice, despite that place being nignog central.

As someone who lived through late 70's NY, it was a shithole. Times Square was sketchy as hell for example.

Washington has a more cleaners than any other city. Graffiti becomes rampant only when its not cleaned shortly after it is put up.

They will just move to LI, NJ, PA, and CT

Auto companies in the U.S. have a vested interest in keeping people buying cars, so they lobby and appoint people to the Department of Transportation and other agencies to keep it underfunded.

Nobody fucks with the Baldies

Nuke New York.

Retards.

You're NEW New Yorkers.

You're not the old. You were never there during the 70s.

You don't get it and never will, kill yourselves!

The New York equivalent to Newfags.

Not the same.

You had punk and disco back then.

Got a couple of pics on this topic actually

Weed to a small extent, broken windows to an indeterminable degree. It was at its shittiest at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic (thanks, CIA & Reagan foreign policy). There's been a lot of collateral due to the war on drugs, but it definitely closed the biggest crack valves. In conjunction with broken windows policing (which worked best when there were neighborhood beat cops), crime decreased to a point where culture could flourish and organized communities could wrest street corners out of the hands of drug-fueled gang violence.

Of course, people began to notice how nice the city could be when the lesser peoples were kept in their place; gentrification came in waves and the international real estate market turned the heart of the city into a near-literal fiefdom.

So yeah, it's just like Disneyland--both go to insidious lengths to keep up appearances, because it keeps the money flowing; if it stops flowing, the illusion falls apart.

Is New York the proof that Broken Windows works?

Not calling you a liar but do you have any scholarly sources for this? I would like to do more research on this topic.

>Philadelphia bad
It's really not as bad as people make it out to be. I lived there and went to University at Temple. Stay away from certain areas and don't be retarded you should be fine. Don't travel North Philly at night looking like a tourist.

>dangerous homeless
Unfortunately, they're a huge problem. Most of them come from a institution that was shut down so a portion of them are criminally insane. Big problem here is all the factories are long gone so nobodies working and school systems are terribly funded. Sucks we use to make shit in this city.

So did parts of Manhattan just have derelict cars from the 50s abandoned at the curb or something?

proofs

Both shit.
