Is this an unreasonable request? I'd say it's just a matter of respect, like a woman asking for another woman to perform a strip search or a pat down instead of a man.

Fuck off mentally stunted stormblr

We're not the mentally ill daycare, that's /pol9k/

Go fuck yourself. If you hate alcohol and pork so much don't work in a store full of it.

no I don't think so, I think it's just another example of a Muslim trying to bait for another discrimination lawsuit when she inevitably gets fired and hoping for a big payday

no, it is free markets, business owners should be able to do what they want with their property

I'm asking a cultural question, I already know what /pol/'s response would be.

keep the fake news in the fake news board

if you ever say the words "fake news" again you will literally burn in hell

This is just another example of a Muslim being a sniveling little shithead for no reason, ask any Arab proprietor of a convenience store in NYC why they sell porn bacon and alcohol and they will tell you their Imam said it was okay because they're not personally consuming it.

In my country Muslims have no problems selling alcohol and pork.

It's not them eating it or drinking it, so why should it matter?

If her boss agrees, why not?

as opposed to figuratively burning in hell?

None of the (many) Arab store owners in my city have problems selling me liquor. At least a couple of them were probably Muslim.

I'm 95% sure this lady is just looking for an opportunity to stir the pot and then get a lot of attention and/or money.

Just go to another store if it bothers you drumpfkins so much

>Is this an unreasonable request?

Yes.

The prohibition in Islam is not 'HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH PORK AND ALCOHOL!!!'

It is simply not to consume it. It concerns one person - yourself.

These people don't even know the religion they 'follow'.

no, you can't refuse service based on race, religion, creed, etc.
There are some things that can be regulated.

there is no objective interpretation of religion

Then your subjective opinion is shit.

who said im OP, fucktard

The difference in your example is the requestee being the customer and the one fullfilling the request is providing service.
If you decline to do part of your job, due to whatever reason, you have to make that deal with the employer. If the employer agrees, then its part of your working agreement. If it was not agreed on prior to hiring, youre actively disobeying part of your job requirement.
In this regard, it is an uncessecary inconvenience for a lot of people (the customers) to please one person. Islam forbids her to eat/drink those items not to sell them. Her being uncomfortable with that makes her not qualified for the job.

Your employer cannot discriminate against your relgious beliefs.

Asking a customer to avoid a lane if they have certain products is not refusing service.

On principle, a business should be allowed to refuse service to anyone at anytime for whatever reason they see fit. I'm arguging that just because this sort of thing is regulated doesn't make it right.

People can be forced to shop somewhere else and the store will lose business. Not a smart business move.

You can't because the police will stop you. In general you shouldn't because it is usually bad for business. However you should have the right to. The laws are wrong is what I am saying.

>There are some things that can be regulated.
Of course, the government can force everyone to wear top hats and cock rings. The question is why.

"objective interpretation" is a spook.

Yes, its a job and if your not willing to do the job you shouldn't get it.

this. but seriously this thread should be on

pretty much this.
if you can't touch several items being sold on that market place, you shouldn't be a cashier.
there's a lot of other things you can do inside a supermarket, like working in the warehouse

but although i have no info on this, i'm guessing this was in some kind of article on the press or social media to show how tolerant and inclusive we are

It's just a request you dumb asshole, out of respect please bring your shit to another isle. If you don't respect people then go ahead and bring your shit to this isle.

Alright I just founded and converted to a new religion which forbids me from doing labor
Can't wait to be unfit for my job and have them be forced to still keep me on and pay me
Like others in this thread have said she's most likely just trying to stir shit up and if some business owner is dumb enough to strike this sort of deal more power to him I guess but I as a customer certainly wouldn't be going to that store as often

yeah i get it... as i can see by your reply, you're somehow who cares a lot about respect

but once again, this is not a complex job and anyone could do it as anyone doing it could be doing something else in that same place - so my point remains, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

It's literally a respectful request you massive autists.

>booze and meat are two of the products that pretty much anyone going to a supermarket are going to take
>all lines are full
>this one is empty but no one can go there
>wastes time for the consumer and money on the supermarket, since they're paying for someone to work less than half of everyone else

All of this is somehow ok.

Sage and Report.

Was that christfag county clerk from Kentucky a year back who was refusing to sign off on gay marriages because of Leviticus an unreasonable request?

Why or why not?

>respectful request
Unless your people are British levels of awkward people this will not happen.

It was because this was a refusal of service, not respectfully asking gay people not to buy from him.
