(the hardliner Confucian scholars tended to hate the ever-living shit out of the foreign Qing)

Holy fuck in my reading I already thought the Qing were die-hard confucianists.

That said, didn't almost all Han hate the Manchu's like really bad?

You can be a christian and still hate other christians.

Well you're not wrong, the Qing were actually pretty hardcore confucianists... but there was a sense they _had_ to be, because if they were any less than hardcore, it opened them up to insurrection from the Ming Confucian diehards who would accuse them of being rotten Confuciansts. Which happened several times, with predictably messy results. Qing also had its own diehards who got real upset about compromising Manchu traditions to accommodate the locals. It got in the way of modernization, really, because the Qing were scared shitless that admitting weakness or desiring things from barbarians would display bad Confucian virtues and thus show they did not have the mandate of heaven anymore.

Qing was kind of a fucked up state in a lot of ways, and the constant tension between Manchu and Han had a lot to do with it.

The answer to both is "China".

...

Japan, at least Britain treid to stop the opium trade later on.

The one who helped China the most was Germany followed by the US. They had more to gain from an independent soverign Chinese State. Instead of it being divided into sphares.

Germany was the Imperial power that was responsible for over 98% of imported modern weaponry. To not forget Germany also build Qing its navy, which was thr most modern at the time. If it wasn't for the retarded Kaisers Bismarck would have made a German-Sino-Russia alliance. Yes even Russia helped Qing more than fucking France and Britain.

Pic related Otto von Bismarck and Li Hongzhang

>That said, didn't almost all Han hate the Manchu's like really bad?
Meme. How would the Qing survive without the support of the scholar gentry, military(whether bannermen or green standard) and commoners?

Han was an cultural identity akin to White Americans. Historical Han Chinese would identify with local groups not a pan Sinitic ethnicity.(hometown, geographical location, fallen dynasties, former polities).

Hmmm

Why did Germany participate in boxer rebellion if they valued alliance with China, wouldn't it be better to sit it out and see how it plays out.
