Communists win a Reichstag majority in 1932. What does their Germany look like?

Modern Germany.

without Turks

>implying

The Green on this map

That was a Soviet puppet state. Thålmann's Germany would not have been.

Turks came becuase Germans lacked workforce.

No suicidal world war = no need for new labor

Thanks, m8. I appreciate your parroting.

That's what they want you to think

Of course

back to tumblr with your shitty sassy 'memes'

Thats what they want you say.

The Reichswehr seizes power and reinstalls Wilhelm II

War against France, peace with USSR and UK.

Coups against commies rarely succeeded before the CIA was formed

Commies didn't have the German military on their side whatsoever. Between the official, semi-official, and freikorps forces of interwar Germany, any Communist armed resistance would've failed.

I think you mean to say "commie coups rarely succeeded before the CIA was formed." The USSR was the only successful one. Mexico, Germany, China, and France all failed in their commie coup attempts before WWII. Japan also had a commie underground that was shut down by the militarists during the Taisho era. Turns out that the best way to keep a commie coup in place is to attempt covertly overturning it instead of going in and rooting it the fuck out.

If they'd play it smart, they could have made it into some social-democratic Reich indeed. Given the Social democrats lend a hand and the Communists do nothing unreasonable they could have avoided a military coup.
Really interesting question. Especially what would they do when Stalin aggressively expands? Germans supporting Poland in the war? Allied with the UK? Soviet Union going down early, Warsaw pact never happened. Poland grabs land in the east. US stay Monroe doctrine. Colonialism goes on a good 50 years longer?

Getting elected democratically is different to a coup. And they had some chances if they acted more rational and less radical.

It would.

>Getting elected democratically
Yeah, but that shit was never going to happen. The German middle class and the war vets were going to make sure of it.

Well, the Nazis got elected, so this is one of the better "what if" threads.

A fascist party which absorbed several populist and nationalist movements winning a lot of seats (by no means getting elected) in parliament is quite different to a hardline communist government.

>the Nazis got elected
By the German middle class and the war vets.

*PROLAPSE*

>hurr wy is there alt history in the alt history thread

such a cum argument. If that's all that matters then every small country should take in a hundred times their population of 3rd world labourers because "muh workforce". Really is a stupid neo-liberal economic argument. Workforce is secondary to productivity anyway. Increasing the number of labourers by importing millions of 3rd world migrants, that take out more in taxes than they pay in (more debt), just so they can take loans out, get mortgages, etc; while good for banks in the short term is shit for everyone else in the long run..

Just look at London for example. The house prices there are absolutely astounding, and yet any Pakistani or illiterate African can rent for £3000 a month. Why? Because the government will subsidise anything they can't pay, on top of the child benefits, tax credits, etc. This is why London house prices are such a mess.

Then the city itself is heaving with 3rd world migrants. There has been a mass exodus of whites from London. Partly because it's impossible for middle class families to buy homes in London (see above rent subsidies), and it's impossible to get their children into good state schools where English is a 1st language. The people that are left are a rootless international mass with no common identity, no common beliefs, no common religion, or culture or language. All they have in common is their currency, and penchant for philistinism.

Average wages in London are actually quite bad, and as above, the housing situation is a joke. You would enjoy the same standard of living in London as an Investment banker working 16hrs+ a day, as you would in a 9 to 5 at Bristol, Bath, or some Kent towns. What have Londoners actually gained from becoming a minority? Grime music and Kebabs, a half a percent growth in some macroeconomic variable. Truly worth flushing your country down the toilet and becoming a minority in your own capital city.

>They
Go back to Ananamoose™ Facebook pages and sharing shitty Banksy art, you cunt.

>commies get elected
>middle class and war vets overthrow the government, likely with the assistance of foreign powers because fuck communism
It's not a hard concept to grasp.

Why would that necessarily be the case? If they won, they'd have been popular enough to resist that.

>they'd have been popular enough to resist that
Because 50.1% of the population is good enough to hold off 49.9% of the population that actually has firearms and is educated in their usage in combat scenarios, right?

The Soviet Union was practically next door.

Colonialism's collapse could've been staved off by at most twenty years, probably.

A more interesting question is what the colonies would look like on the other side of it, though. We could have seen quite a few more social democracies than communist regimes.

No.

>The first Gastarbeiter were recruited from European nations. However Turkey pressured the Federal Republic to allow its citizens to become guest workers.[1] Theodor Blank, Secretary of State for Employment, was opposed to such agreements. He held the opinion that the cultural gap between Germany and Turkey would be too large and also held the opinion that Germany needed no more labourers because there were enough unemployed people living in the poorer regions of Germany who could fill these vacancies. The United States, however, put some political pressure on Germany, wanting to stabilize and create goodwill from a potential ally. The German Department of Foreign Affairs carried on the negotiations after this, and in 1961 an agreement was reached.[6][6]

Probably torn apart by a civil war

Question is whether OP means SPD with "communist". SPD back then was still a revolutionary independent party while the KPD was controlled by KOMINTERN.

Yeah just lie and leave out the fucking paragraph right before your quote:
>There were several reasons for signing these treaties. First of all, during the 1950s, Germany experienced a so-called Wirtschaftswunder or "economic miracle" and needed laborers.

Why does /pol/ feel the need to lie?

That paragraph doesn"t change the other bit"s meaning at all though

Their would be a Reichswehr coup supported by the black Reichswehr, the SA, the Stahlhelm, propably the police and all other rightwing militias that existed back then.
And the Communists would likely be put down in a manner far more brutal than for example during the time of the socialist bavarian republic.
And I bet that all those rightwingers would also use the chance to crack down on the SPD and all liberal parties.

How does the paragraph affect what was being said there? The point is that nobody in Germany wanted Turks. They were let in because the US put pressure on the German government.

Weren't SPD reformist liberals?

If I remember correctly they were socialist back than and changed their political positions in the fifties only becoming than reformist liberals.

Describing the history of the SPD with all their merits and even more faults in a single post may be asked a Little too much. Try the Wikipedia article.
As the name gives away they are social democrats. socialist ideals on a democratic base. Every historical period they sell out though. Currently they are not much different from the CDU. Neoliberal cunts. Obese suits. tNothing socialist about them anymore. Back then they had to be taken seriously though.
