Bump for interest

Read on Herman Balck and how to fuck an entire Soviet army with a single German Division.

That wasn't much a thing. They were so effective by operating like a machine, not doing this "a few Marines take on a Panzer division and win" Hollywood stuff. You've got some specific guys, like Skorzeny, but for the most part, the German army's success can be attributed to technology and organization. They were decades ahead of the Red Army, for the first few years. Twenty other countries had willingly allied with them, and France still thought it was WWI.

I remember one where the Germans and Americans teamed up to take out some SS

What's wrong with the SS? Were these actually "Special" squads (criminals, etc.)?

Really most involving Paul Von Lettow-Vorbeck

Michael Wittmann?

>They were decades ahead of the Red Army, for the first few years.

You can't make this shit up.

If you're looking into this then you literally named exactly what happened in the Yugoslavian capital of Belgrade.

>9 people capture an enemy capital before the highly experienced Das Reich division even sets foot in it.

WW2 not WW1.

Waffen SS

Misread, still worth checking him out though

Battle of Castle Hitler

Why does this picture look shopped? The old man looks way more blurry than both the soldier and man standing in the background.
I know there's supposedly a fake of this photo...but this doesn't look real, either.

In what? How having shit tier logistics, bad mechanization and obsolete tanks leads to "decades ahead"

Walther Wenck, the 12th and 9th armies and the battle of Halbe.

That officer looks like Harrisson Ford

Hans Solo dies in the new Stalingrad movie.

Its from Russian movie

DUDE DEMASCULATION LMAO

This is stretching it a little but Lauri Törni fought and reach officer rank in the Finnish army, the Waffen SS (against the Soviets) and the US army in Vietnam. That's some dedicated hatred of commies.

The SS are a giant meme. they werent special forces, they were the offical militia of the nazi party and they sucked. The actual German army tended to hate their LARPing bullshit and dumb ass magic ubermensch ideals of battle.

Das Reich was the only somewhat bad ass one, all others were shitty masses of crap. The muslim one got its ass kicked in yugoslavia, the 30th mountain brigade, made up of Russians, rebelled against their nazi masters, and all the ukranian ones did nothing other than massacre polish and russian and jewish civilians.

you might also hear stormfags talking about the badass SS making their last stand at Berlin, but these were mostly french soldiers who knew they would be tried for treason after the war was done and literally had nothing to live for rather than this dying oath to der fuhrer.

The SS was just like every other military branch of the time.

Those that had seen combat and been well trained were great troops, and those that had only seen one and especially neither were poor.
Germany had the issue that by 44 most of their new recruits had only training, and by late 44, not even that.
The SS was even worse about this because of political meddling. While replacements for the Wehrmacht might be signing on out of devotion to their country and family, SS replacements were starting to get filled with Hitler Youth, a bunch of 16 year olds high on propaganda.

I knew a guy who's grandad was part of Patton's 3rd Army, a tanker. At one point in 45 he was leading a tank column and in the middle of the day, observed Germans setting up ambushing positions in clear view in the nearby treeline.

So they lit them up. When they eventually moved up to the area they found a bunch of dead 15 year olds wearing Swastika bands.

>none of the perpetrators would survive the war
>their families would get bombed by the Allies
>their families would get raped by the Russians
feels good
