It went well, a complete success

>dying over barren desert cause "muh holy land": 11th century edition

europe is my holy land, not israel

>barren desert
so how is that burger Cletus/Tyrone?

Other than muh holy land what is worth dying for in Palestine?

if you aren't willing to die for your faith you probably never believed

Good farm land and olives. They also have oil for your 21st century man.

Nothing.

Everything.

Why aren't you dead then senpai?

dry oranges and loaf avokado*

t. Saladin

It happened because of Byzantine politics increasingly relying on mercenaries, then got turned into a meme by Western Europe.

Your picture is wrong OP

Why hello there.

Crusades saved europe, expanded trade, and gave us the new world.

I'm very open to argue this if anyone disagrees.

I can also expand on my reasoning/opinion

Not bad, all things considered. Preserved the Byzantine Empire for a little longer.

>First Crusade

I'm curious as to your opinions why they were good.

Switch the Jew and the Byzantine

>muh hardore knights

Costuming was so good in that movie. To bad the rest of it was rot.

The music and camera work was pretty dope. Most of the acting, too.

I prefer my desert camera work in the form of a biopic about a masochistic homo... like you could jerk off to the camera work in that movie.
Best scene/shot/thing in KoH is when Baldwin IV shows up with the glinting cross and army.

t. Schlomo

The entire movie is amazing, only sheep don't like KOH. Arguably the best ensemble cast in the past 50 years.

So you're an atheist?

This. The most reasonbale answer to OP's idiot question.

>Crusades saved europe

No they fucking didn't. Muslim expansion into Europe had already been curtailed at Tours in the 8th century. The First Crusade wasn't even a reaction to any real Muslim threat to Latin Europe: it was actually an over-reaction in thanks to Byzantine scheming that got out of hand.

All the Crusades accomplished was unifying the Muslims by giving them a common enemy, and if that wasn't enough, weakening (and then destroying) the only entity capable of holding back the various Muslims hordes: the Byzantine Empire.

What so many really don't get about this is that the Byzantines were out for themselves, so it wasn't a Christian vs Muslim thing for them but a Roman vs Barbarian one. This led to some hilarious and constant feats of irony.

>Gee, these northmen would make pretty good sellswords, let's start attracting as many as we can to fight for us in the Mediterranean
>Oh no, some of these northmen took Southern Italy and are now invading us
>Oh well, let's build up an army in Anatolia to-
>Oh no, they're revolting and usurping the throne
>Oh well, let's get some of these Turks to help fight in the civil wars and against the Normans
>Oh no, some of these Turks took Central Anatolia and are now invading us
>Oh well, let's get some Frankish knights to help fight them and-
>Oh no, some of them are taking land for themselves and even attacking us
>Oh well, let's get Venice our long-time outpost in the West to help defend our coasts and-
>OH NO

>Tours
You mean the Arab sieges of Constantinople. Tours was just a battle against a raiding party compared to these two sieges.
