Not to sound like a boomer but

One of the most important aspects that crypto brings to the world is that everyone can effectively be their own bank.

But what if the people don't actually want that?

Current financial system relies on the trust between banks and generations of normies, that has been built in hundreds of years. Deloitte predicts that around 10% of the world's total GDP will be on crypto. That's a lot of money and a lot of users for as little as 8 years.

Do you think that there will be enough normies that trusts themselves with their money in 8 years? Or ever?

What do people do when their trust in a bank wanes? They get their money out.
Normies do trust themselves, who doesn't? They put it in the bank because they distrust others - i.e. thieves.

Banks were literally invented to protect your money from bad people, and we still need that protection

This is why cryptocurrency is stupid on the long term

Most people won't want that and there are plenty of 3rd parties willing to take the banks place but with greatly reduced fees.

>Do you think that there will be enough normies that trusts themselves with their money
so like 80% of normies already. most people live paycheck to paycheck.

being your own bank is cool but it needs to be easier to deal with. crypto is still not marketable because it is too techy and niche, most people still type with one finger...when it's idiot proof to buy, store, and exchange for goods there will be moons on moons

>Banks were literally invented to protect your money from bad people
Oh how the times have changed

>Banks were literally invented to protect your money from bad people, and we still need that protection

>This is why cryptocurrency is stupid on the long term

Aww, it's retarded.

>Deloitte predicts that around 10% of the world's total GDP will be on crypto
Lol if that happened everyone here would be fucking millionaire.

the bad people stopped robbing the banks and started working at them

> They put it in the bank because they distrust others - i.e. thieves.
Exactly. So how long would it take to get millions of normies to protect their own money when banks are doing it for them?

People who can't have savings on bank accounts for years are not included, obviously.

so banks will just start hosting wallets on their on for a premium. double premium if you want them insured. have you never heard of capitalism?

Lol tell that to fucking Japan. They have negative interest rates, can you imagine that?

People are PAYING the banks to keep their money for them instead of the other way around.

What's the real result? A shitton of hoarders keeping their money out of banks. Hello Bitcoin. No normie wants the bank taking his money.

Im a normie never heard of crypto or 4 chan until the past elections.never really thought there were many people out there that shared by beliefs until this forum. Now im hooked and love how crytpo operates outside government control.

As more people get comfortable with technology what with every normie in the world having a smartphone now adays I'd say yes. In fact even if they're not to gud wit dah computah they probably trust themselves more than a bank that has a lot of negative stereotypes and worries related to them.

Fucking newfag get the fuck out

soon nignogs will sell crack on street corners with buttcoins. you'll roll up to trayvon, scan his QR code, and deposit your buttcoins into his wallet. imagine that? then when he gets arrested they won't be able to seize them. our prisons will be filled with buttcoin millionaires.

True, banks are fucking horrible and we have to stop them

But I don't think crypto in it's current state is the solution

Bahahahahaha

I'd rather trust crypto than Jews running the central bank.

>people want the trust banks have built over hundreds of years

?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

How aboot XRP? It's the finest of cryptojew hybrids available. Do you know about Interledger? It's the future.

This argument is short sighted. There can be trustless, decentralized systems that can be as user friendly and secure as banks are today. People would not even notice the difference because the user experience can be the same as it is for centralized systems. We are just in early stages and things are not ready for mass adoption yet, it is way too complex for normies to take care of their private keys and make crypto asset transactions. But there can be developed solutions for this, your identity could even be tied to a private key. It is just the question if humans will choose a decentralized path at some point in the future, where the roots of our financial and social systems will be decentralized. It is not a technical question.
