In 1920, Russia was a war-torn society on the brink of collapse. By the beginning of WW2, they were one of the most powerful states on earth.

In 1920, Turkey was a also a war-torn society on the brink of collapse. By the beginning of WW2, Turkey was still an unstable shithole.

What the fuck happened?

Turkey stopped being a colonial empire, Russia did not.

Turkey was a nation of 17 million people.

Also, it wasn't industrialized before 1920

Turkey lost WWI
Russia didn't
Also communism helped

russia had natural sources like a baku oil

Sell ukraininan grain for american machinery
Trade oil for technology from Nazi germany

Is this seriously a question? Turkey and USSR can't be even compared in terms of population and resources.

Ataturk however fullfileld his goal. he drove out the occupying armies and established a secular republic.

>Turkey back then: 17 million
>Turkey now: 80 million
How?

Marxism-Leninism works.

[COLAPSE]

Turkey was fucking poor in 1914 ($1,100 GDP per capita, compared to Russia at $1,500) and was much, much, MUCH more devastated by the war than Russia. It lost literally 1/4 of its population and much of its already tiny industry. It was all set to become Sub-Saharan African level shithole.

That it got to a halfway decent state as soon as it did is downright amazing.

Thanks to capitalist restoration and imperialism.

Stalin happened baby. Fuggin five year plans doing work son.

>Russia didn't lose WWI
shut up dummy

Fucking idiot just shut up

Yes clearly if states existed in a vacuum then communism would be perfect. Unfortunately, the ideology of Marx seems ill-suited to life outside of ideal testing conditions, susceptible as it is to any sort of corrupting influence that causes its inevitable collapse within a few decades of being established.

The USSR worked pretty well for most of its existence, material and social conditions at the time considered. Full employment, rapid industrialisation, rapid life expectancy gains, defeat of fascist invaders, equality between men and women, universal education etc.

>By the beginning of WW2, they were one of the most powerful states on earth.

They really werent
They were an irrelevant failed state in the late 30s, it's WW2 that unleashed their potential

Found the triggered Germanboos
Always make me lol when Germanboos claim that Germany didnt lose WW1 but gave up for internal reason because, while not true for Germany, it's what indeed happened to Russia

Nice, how do I sign up to this imaginary land you speak of?

>By the beginning of WW2, Turkey was still an unstable shithole
It still is.

russia literally agreed to an extemely unfavourable treaty in ww1, how is that not losing and when did anyone say anything about germany

>unstable
True
>shithole
Not really. Unless you live with the Kurds, you have European standards of living.

This is the answer. Russia, as weird as it is, left WW1 on its own terms.

Everything he/she said works though

>Found the triggered Germanboos
I'm a Stalinboo

Trotsky is the reason Russia lost WWI.

Yeah, but more on the Albania side of the scale.

Nope youre just an imbecile who obviously doesn't know what he's talking about. Labeling people who call you out for what you are 'germanboos' just further helps cement my first statement: Just shut up you fucking idiot

Turkey is much better off than Albania, OECD classifies it as 'upper middle income' similar to Russia or Mexico.

>By the beginning of WW2, they were one of the most powerful states on earth.

Incorrect and you get owned by Finland at the start of WW2.

It isn't until about 42-43 that Russia becomes a superpower.

Socialism, comrade, socialism. Brought about through the dictatorship of the proletariat

>gender equaluty
Dropped

Are you assuming xe/xir's pronouns?? Seriously??

"its own terms" were losing half of its best land
russia got worse WWI terms than germany did

The USSR worked pretty well until it ran out of other people's money to spend.

>russia didnt lose ww1

cockroaches don't die easy
