What lost from the library of Alexandria?

What lost from the library of Alexandria?

*was lost
I'm retarded.

Sheep market

Smut papyri, mainly.

A lot of useless shit about blood letting and who worshiped who. Some useless ancient philosophical papers written before people understood cells existed.

My point is: who gives a shit really, except (((Classicists)))

Records of ancient finnish literature were kept there.

Secret wisdom of the ages.

Irrelevant harvest records, tax documents, and other bureaucractic nonsense.

Three things off the top of my head:

>Equations of how to achieve stable nuclear fusion
>Predictions and prevention measures for stopping atmosphere carbonisation and ozone depletion
>Damning evidence about the evil plans of an ancient sect (would eventually become the Jews) which could have halted their development as a group.

I wonder if they had a ancient cartoon porn section

How can people who claim to be interested in history say shit like that? Please tell me that you're actually from /a/ or reddit and are only visiting.

Don't forget several Apples of Eden

ill bet that last one, but not solely for the Jews.

Evidence of Atlantis! Other evidence of God...

Ayylmaos

Chronicles of the Finno-Korean Hyper War.

>What's that, son? You looking at your egyptian cartoons again?

If it had anything of actual note, other libraries in the Mediterranean would have copies or at least mention these amazing treasures in Alexandria.

>the most important library of the ancient world didn't have anything of "note"
Guize it was merely a tourist attraction!

Pay attention, it was a bureaucratic records hall like every other, with it standing out because of the scale of Alexandria's trade.

>ITS CALLED ANIME DAD, BUT THEN I WOULDN'T EXPECT A BAKA GAJIN LIKE YOU TO UNDERSTAND THE GREATEST ARTFORM EVER TO BE CONCIEVED BY MANKIND REEEEEEEEE

>harvest records
>tax documents
>bureaucracy

>irrelevant

Fuck off

And probably a lot of recorded history as well: people's lives, their lineages, their successes and failures.

aww comon man les jsut hav some fun!

We're not sure, but the legend is just that. There were multiple libraries in Alexandria and we're not even sure which are even being referenced by various historians.

The idea of some massive library housing all human knowledge is a fairy tale, though.

Well, at the time, that would have been more or less entirely possible. Certainly, a record of all knowledge ever put to paper would have been possible.

There were individuals who were believed to at least have cursory to mid-depth knowledge of everything that was known, and who demonstrated it on a regular basis. The amount of shit you had to memorize by rote, simply because libraries were so few and far between, was rather staggering, and it wasn't unheard of to make "gathering all of man's knowledge" a lifetime mission.

...Unlike today, where we've such a huge pile of knowledge, not even all of the people in the world combined actually have it in their collective gray matter.

Ancient sex manuals. Bronze age pornography and such. Would love to see what it contained. Maybe there was Minoan yuri.
