Humiliating royal punishments

So in the 1780s, Louis XVI decided to punish the playwright Beaumarchais by sending him to the prison Saint-Lazare for several days. Saint-Lazare was reserved for women and teenagers whose families wanted to be rid of them for a while (for acting out, not doing what was expected, etc). The reason Louis XVI sent Beaumarchais there was for the humiliation: at Saint-Lazare, the method of punishment was spanking as a deterrent.

What were some other non-lethel punishments meted out by royals intended to humiliate their targets? Anna Ivanovna's Ice Palace punishment also comes to mind.

Chinese Emperors castrated the sons of rebels and forced them to become palace servants.

You did say nonlethal & humiliating.

18th century France was such a degenerated society. Thank God for Revolution and for Robespierre.

during the spanish inquisition people were given badges for some crimes that they had to wear every day for the rest of their life

>ywn be forcefully castrated and feminized by the Emperor because your father rebelled
>ywn put up a tough front, and act like you hate him, while your intense moans and faces in the bedroom give you away

Nah, you're a manservant not a maid.

A lot of rebel-son Eunuchs led military careers. Zheng He was one.

Didn't Zheng He castrate himself though as a way to prove he never fucked the Empress?

Did they? I thought the eunuchs were people who wanted to serve in the Forbidden City.

Nah. That was another Ming Dynasty General. Zheng He's dad was a Muslim rebel who stayed loyal to the Yuan Dynasty. When the Ming defeated him, Zheng was castrated as punishment vs. his dad.
Yes, those existed since its the easiest way to enter government service. But alongside them are people who were castrated as punishment.

>ywn work at that prison and spank women of all ages all day long

>trapped in a prison full of rebellious girls and women and your punishment is to have them slap your ass all day

I don't see downsides

Well, not by royals, but I feel like contributing to the knowledge pool.

After the Spanish Civil War (1936-39), the wives and daughters of the communists were raped (if not shot), and their hair was almost universally shaved. Some of them were made to walk the streets naked. Their children were stolen and given away to (obviously fascist) nuns.

My granddad was a lawyer in a small coastal town in the north. He had collaborated with a local left-wing publication by drawing some cartoons for them. Since his family was in good standing, his only punishment was to sweep the streets with a broom. Sweeping the streets was seen as hardcore public humiliation for a lawyer. But he was very lucky only getting that, and then only because of his family's standing.

based franco

>gommunism
>never again

Shouldn't have drawn their fucking cartoons.

Take a break from porn

Neat. How did your grandpa view his punishment?

I never talked to the man about it, as he died when I was very young. Plus stories like these are not commonly discussed within households- people who have lived through fascist repression tend to not be very enthusiasthic about casually discussing them.

In any case, my grandpa was a proud, intelligent man. He later went on to found a school of sorts in the village, which is probably the worst you can do to a fascist regime.

>Franco's Spain
>fascist

>it's not real fascism!

it's not even any fascism
why do you think he distanced himself from the fallange as quickly as he could

Fucking red scum deserved it, Cara al Sol

Yes, a traditional caudillo regime is not ideologically the same as Fascism along Italian lines.
