Meme war

Were the yankees really shit, or were the inbred rednecks really good?

It was a combination. Lee basically GOAT, and nearly every general the Union threw at him was absolutely fucking retarded. McClellan especially.

>has an army of 100,000 well armed men and a shit ton of artillery
>facing army of 35,000 men weilding paper clips and sharpened sporks
>Pinkerton says he's facing 80,000 U.S. Marines with ar-15s
>automatically assumes Pinkerton is being conservative and rounds to 150,000 Hindu gods of war and all the beasts of the land and the fishes of the sea
>retreats

>Dixie plays

Burnside

>outnumbers lee 3-1
>finds enemy entrenched in cliff, literally impossible to break through
>bashes his head against them repeatedly, takes 20,000 casualties

Joe Hooker

>outnumbers lee 3-1
>actually is aggressive for once, attempts encircling
>Lee cuts him off, slaughters him
>takes 20,000 casualties

Always feel bad for McClellan, People called him the Young Napoleon till the Civil War broke out. Thought he was gonna be a genius. Ended up choking and going down in history as a scared fuck up.

kek, don't forget pope in the north getting dickslapped twice by rednecks with shotguns.

>poorly assembled, tiny, extremely poorly equipped shitty army that humiliated the largest and most advanced one on the face of the Earth time and time again through sheer generalship

Based comfederates

"most advanced"

you mean an army of niggers and europoor immigrants because shitty yankees can't fight a pack of inbreds?

Until they got BTFO by Grant and Sherman.

And they weren't "tiny and extremely poorly equipped". On average the Union's strategic advantage was less than 2-1. In some major decisive campaigns the Confederates even had an effective advantage in numbers.

>Dixie plays
Great. Now I can't get "The night they drove old Dixie down" out of my head.

>ironclads
>submarines
>advanced field telegraphs
>imported European artillery, most powerful at time
>1.5 million men
>advanced use of railroads
>railroad artillery

Yeah it was advanced you fucking /pol/tard. Using the word nigger kind of gives you away

Yank generals were retards, grant was just lucky that the war was almost over by the time he took command.

Very few, and none decisive. Don't even pretend like it was a fair fight against Grant. Even if Grant was as retarded as McClellan he still would've won. At that point in the war the Confederates were outnumbered 4-1 and had little to no funding or reinforcements, and still beat and drew them quite a bit

>grant was just lucky that the war was almost over by the time he took command.

Did Donnelson and Vicksburg just not happen in the minds of Cuckfederates?

>Using the word nigger kind of gives you away
you know there was once a time the word "nigger" was basically like the word "hello" on this website?

>Were the yankees really shit

It is MASSIVELY exaggerated, but yes there was a difference. The reason being that when wealthy southern boys joined the military, they joined the army, and when wealthy northern boys did, they joined the navy. So in a land war between the regions, the south is going to have the advantage in leadership. They also had "home field advantage." But the north had their advantages too, which they played to and won. But for some reason that's "cheating" according to dixieboos.

>Very few, and none decisive. Don't even pretend like it was a fair fight against Grant.

The Confederates had an effective numerical advantage during large portions of the Vicksburg Campaign such as when Johnston had a chance to rendevous with Pemberton. As well as superior cavalry, defensible terrain, and interior lines for the entirety. They were unable to leverage their advantages and still got BTFO in the most decisive Union victory of the war.

Fort Donnelson was kind of pyrric, but it was still a pretty good victory. At Vickburg, he had a larger, better equipped army facing one of the most incompetent Confederate generals. He was set to win that one.

Their cavalry was better for the early war, but that evaporated as it went on. They also had less men in all major battles, way less supplies, much poorer weaponry, ate very little, and destroyed the Yankees in every single major battle except for Vicksburg and Gettysburg.

Plus Pemberton was the worst Confederate general by far, and Johnson was pretty far down there too

>Their cavalry was better for the early war, but that evaporated

It was still in place at Vicksburg. Where their cavalry was lured away with a feint and the Confederates got walloped.

>and destroyed the Yankees in every single major battle except for Vicksburg and Gettysburg.

Complete bullshit even if for some reason you completely ignore the second half of the war. Antietam was a Confederate failure. The Western Theater was a consistent series of Union victories.

>Plus Pemberton was the worst Confederate general by far, and Johnson was pretty far down there too

Pretty much all early war Union generals were crap, doesn't stop Cuckfederates from screaming about Lee's and Forrest's victories against them.

until you realize they took 5 years and almost double the redneck's losses to win the war on their own soil in a war for niggers, it went down to a point they started even dressing up niggers in nice blue suites and giving them guns and telling them to fight and they used them up like bullet-blocking human devices.

>almost double the redneck's losses

>Union Total: 828,000 casualties
>Confederate Total: 864,000 casualties

I still don't understand why there was such difference in the upper echelons of command. Officers on both sides had studied the same doctrines, many of them had graduated from the same institutions, some had even been classmates or teachers/students of one another. Yet the south ends up with Lee, Jackson, A.P. Hill, Longstreet and J.E.B. Stuart and Forrest, who wasn't even in the military before the war, but ends up being a successful commander. The north has McClellan, Burnside, McDowell, Pope. And even the good union generals have serious personal issues that get in their way to success. Sherman has crippling depression, Grant has problems with alcohol and Rosecrans loses his mind because of a single defeat.

northerners don't have big extended families supporting them emotionally
they also aren't as motivated
if the south loses: their entire way of life is gone
if the north loses: they have to let the south have independence

The South had its fair share of shitty generals. You just don't hear about them. Ever hear of Bragg?

A lot of the southern generals only sided with the confederacy because their families lived in the south and they wouldn't fight against them. Lee famously was torn between serving the country he actually believed in and staying loyal to his State and his family, and in the end Virginia won out over the USA. If Virginia had decided to remain in the Union the war would have be a very, very different thing.

>open wikipedia
>half of 864,000 cuckfederate losses are literally prisoners
>yankees still lost almost twice their losses fighting rednecks with shotguns for 5 years

>half of 864,000 cuckfederate losses are literally prisoners

And?

A little of both, but primarily the first. There's this long-standing meme where the southern soldiers were seen as naturally superior at warfare, but its nonsense. The south's strengths lied in being able to fight the majority of the war on defense, and their access to superior officers that were mostly into the confederate cause. That doesn't mean to say the average southern soldier was shit (they managed to kick a lot of union ass despite being underfunded, underarmed, and outmanned at every point); but battlefield causalites were usually 1-1, not some fantasy of 5 union dead for each confederate.

Both sides had soldiers serving with valor, especially when you keep in mind that neither side was ready for the bloodbath that would result.

>serving with valor

you mean toting guns and killing people for niggers?

I try not to Bragg

Also a lot of the northern soldiers were essentially conscripted immigrants. Forced to join the Union army the minute they set foot on American soil. Not really the the stuff of a loyal and enthusiastic army. And the south showed that loyalty and enthusiasm goes a long way toward making up for lack of provisions.

>you mean an army of niggers and europoor immigrants
user, I...

Yes

Also I've reported your post for racism. Enjoy prison.

>and destroyed the Yankees in every single major battle except for Vicksburg and Gettysburg.

and Shiloh, Stones River, Corinth, Chattanooga, Atlanta, etc...

>inbred rednecks
Wew, lad.

>Also a lot of the northern soldiers were essentially conscripted immigrants. Forced to join the Union army the minute they set foot on American soil. Not really the the stuff of a loyal and enthusiastic army.

the 1st Minnesota and 69th New York probably tag-teamed your me-maw ya know...
