What is your opinion on academia?

What is your opinion on academia?

Ridiculously overpriced in the U.S.
Other than that, one of the most technology- and society-furthering ideas of all time.

Meme degrees like Dance are cancer though.

>Dance
one of the oldest human art forms that's continuously practiced by all cultures forever, also demands high degrees of physical fitness and training and is stacked with top tier qt's. Sounds way better than some programming bullshit that nobody cares about and is gonna be irrelevant in 3 years

>pay us and we'll give you your "I'm smart" paper so you can get a job

...

Very important, progressives were wise to take them over so completely. Its trickle down thinking

Unnecessary anymore and is becoming a burden towards society. The best education is amongst the working class, practical and useful ones, and not something masturbatory. Trade schools, internships, apprenticeships, and career workshop is the future as socialism becomes the norm.

I think it's good.
I wish it was cheaper though.

>Have mother who was ballet dancer, later instructor
>majored in ballet history
>get to hear the best drunken screeds about the raunchiest stories in the world of entertainment.

Missing out, desu.

Most of them (apart from STEM) are safe space heavens for progressives.

t. has only ever visited a single university

Should be free.

People should be allowed to enroll in courses just for self enrichment.

American universities are a cartel and American student debt is a bubble just waiting to shit all over the American economy.

Good, make the professors teach for free. If they refuse jail them.

The bubble isnt the debt. It is the millions of people who go to college who shouldnt. Once society self corrects the bubble will burst as colleges and universities right size to teach only the top 5%-10%.

>These bad loans aren't the bubble, it's the millions of people who take them that shouldn't

The American government can handle not getting paid back on their shitty student loans. The hundreds of thousands of people who are professors, administrators and other staff whose jobs and living are dependent on the continuation of higher education being oversold can not.

>computers are going to be irrelevant in 3 years

wot

(((Academia)))

Wouldn't coding be most important?

>this is what Americans actually think

Infiltrated and subverted by Marxists, Darwinists and Liberals.

I have a STEM and humanities major and honestly, the STEM major has far more liberals.

Probably b/c STEM is the forefront of "progress" or some shit like that.

Even Veeky Forums is far more liberal than Veeky Forums or Veeky Forums tbhwy.

It's like all the nice social creations
Made possible with money
Ruined by money

>learned everything he knows about acedemia third hand on Veeky Forums
I've observed a lot more women in stem than in history or philosophy
Not saying that philosophy isn't more coherently liberal than the other fields.
Maybe it has something to do with objectivity and reasoned beliefs.

>Darwinists
What?

What is a Darwinist?
