Why has China historically been so poor at fighting foreign enemies? Mongols, Jurchens, Manchus, Tibetans, Japanese, Indians, Vietnamese, British, Americans, all have fucked them over at least once. The only thing China's militaries seem to have been good for is civil war and conquering places that belong to China.

"China" wasn't just one kingdom. Their enemies used divide and conquer, much in the same way they used such strategms to disperse the steppe nomads who continually threatened the borders of civilization and occasionally ransacked their centers of civilization.

It's like kung fu. It looks skillful when two practioners "fight" because they know what to expect of each other, and it's actually more of a performance.

When you actually pick a fight with someone else though, they will break your legs.

>Why has China historically been so poor at fighting foreign enemies?
Because you don't know Chink history?

China started at the Northeast bit of what is now China proper. But for some reason these bunch of weakasses expanded steadily. One wonders why.

>Indians

Because the Chinese absorbed the people they actually beat to the point that most of us just think of them as plain Chinese.

>It's like kung fu. It looks skillful when two practioners "fight" because they know what to expect of each other, and it's actually more of a performance.
That's bullshit.

Yes, modern Kung Fu is more of a dance than a fighting art. But back when a Chinaman would have actually used his martial art to defend himself from bandits or highwaymen it was much simpler and more practical and played to the strengths of the individual. Southern styles stayed closer to the ground on account of southerners being manlets, while northern styles were more like kickboxing to take advantage of the fact that they lived on a plain so they were tall, skinny, and could run a lot.

Let's put it this way: in the 19th century Europeans practiced pugilism like pic related. After the Boxer rebellion at the turn of the 20th exposed average Europeans to Chinese culture, they quickly abandoned pugilism in favor of boxing. Rather than fight in the old timey way, with one fist cocked and the other held out with the backs of the hands facing forward, Europeans found it much more practical and effective to fight knuckles out in the boxing style we know today, which they picked up from Chinese boxers.

Up through the sixties there were still Chinese martial artists who took challengers and won. the erosion of fighting skills was gradual

>One wonders why
Cultural dominance

Chinese military strength is a meme.

Mongols buttfucked every country other than Song China in a few years max. Song China last 70-80 years.

Tibetans captured Chang'an after the An Lushan rebellion.

Japanese took advantage of China when it was divided between Warlords.

Vietnam? China's dominated it more often than you think.

British Second Opium War took place during the Taiping Rebellion, Nian Rebellion, Du Wenxiu Rebellion, Miao Rebellion, Dzungar Revolt, Northern Chinese Famine, etc. (China's population from 1850 to 1900 dropped, whereas America pentupled, and Europe doubled)

Comparatively speaking, China buttfucked America - just coming out of a Civil War, with a barely functional military machine, to send the Americans in their longest retreat in history. There's a reason the Americans fought a defensive war in Vietnam.

Indians? China buttfucked them recently in the 1962 war.

Manchus are the only ones that can get credit here.

>China buttfucked America - just coming out of a Civil War, with a barely functional military machine, to send the Americans in their longest retreat in history.

>he thinks China won the Korean war

Well they did get what they wanted: a militarized buffer state against the west

One could even make the argument that the man who invented modern mixed martial arts was a Chinaman who came of age practicing a woman's martial art

Is it China week this week? Whats with all the threads?

To stem the tide of shitposting and bait I'll make a proper reply

>Mongols
Resisted for the longest time, but it was their own fucking fault. Who invites a tiger to a dog fight?

>Jurchens
The Song liked to kill any general who actually succeeded.

>Manchus
Invited them in. Alot of Han defectors joined them.

>Tibetans
No idea desu

>Japanese
Did well during the Korean invasion, it would have been good to see them establish themselves as an actual threat. In the end it was a stalemate.

During ww2 you had an industrialized Japan vs pre-industrialization china.

>Indians
When?

>Vietnamese
China won some and lost some, it was the meme people's war doctrine against Vietnam veterans.

>British
Qing retardation and China can definitely be faulted for that

>Americans
China was responsible for the longest retreat by US forces in their history. Was as much due to US lack of preparation as Chinese doctrine.

I think you are baiting so I'll leave it at that

They shoved the line back to the originally agreed borders. How is that not a victory?

>I think you are baiting

Huh, amazing critical thinking skills here.

well because you don't hear of the ones who lost to China since they get absorbed

The Chinese goal of the Korean war was to unite the peninsula under the DPRK. The American goal was just to keep South Korea standing.

>Mongols buttfucked every country other than Song China in a few years max. Song China last 70-80 years.

I think you mean...

>Mongols buttfucked every country other than Song China, the Mamluke Sultanate, Poland, Hungary, Wallachia, the Delhi Sultanate, the kindoms of Dai Viet and Champa, and Japan in a few years max. Song China last 70-80 years, the rest defeated them.

>The American goal was just to keep South Korea standing.
then why did they keep pushing further and further north, until the Chinese showed up, and kicked their shit in?

because patton was stopped from nuking them

>patton
Nigga u trollin

Or you're thinking of Douglas MacArthur.

>Is it China week this week? Whats with all the threads?

Only a Chink make these bait threads to attract western posters, not other way around.

Patton was dead pal, you're thinking of MacArthur

whoops, i fly of the whim sometimes, too much shitposting from pol

You forgot the French
They conquered Vietnam by fucking China's shit up

>*to horse niggers

Chinks in turn got Westernized.

>traditional chinese in the motto

>Indians? China buttfucked them recently in the 1962 war.

and got btfo in 1967 when the indians actually sent better equipment to their eastern front.

On the broader pic though chinese and indians have hardly fought because himalayas

>China started at the Northeast bit of what is now China proper.
Erlitou/Erligang isn't the northeast.

Because the communists started it. Because their goal was to unite korea under communism. Because they sent in 80000 troops to kill 15000 marines and couldn't do it

Uhh sweetie wallachia got wrecked and conquered by the Mongols

>Is it China week this week? Whats with all the threads?
Donald is having a pissing contest with Xi Jinping and everybody is suddenly interested in China again.

>Mongels
No one knew how to fight the Mongols. not even Europeans.

>Manchus
Ming was brought down by Li Zicheng who was a Han rebel. The Manchus got away with ruling China because they assimilated into the main culture.

>Anything in the modern age
The 100 years of humiliation was brought upon by Western imperialism. The Chinese empires which have ruled the area for 5000 years could not adapt fast enough.

>No one knew how to fight the Mongols. not even Europeans.
Use water user, a lot of water
