Arabs never invaded Sub-Saharan Africa

Why did the Arabs never invade Sub-Saharan Africa?

Did they fear the Black warrior?

Oh look, another "Why didn't 'x' empire or civilization conquer a desert?"

neither did the christians desu

Ethiopia had contact to Islam even while the prophet lived. Muslim refugees were sheltered in Ethiopia so Mohammed declared Ethiopia to be exempt from the Jyhad as the only non-muslims

Because it's hard to cross the world's largest desert, then plod through jungles full of hostile wild life and disease, maintain supply lines through said wilderness and distance, just to invade some tribal people and make them convert. It's easier to just trade them for whatever valuables they have.

They did look at Zanzibar in Tanzania.

>why did the arabs never invade sub saharan africa
because of the fucking sahara
why try and cross a desert to conquer people with no infrastructure when europe is more easily accessible?

The bulk of SSA has been a logistic nightmare for most of human history. Arabs did conquer several areas of SSA along the eastern coast, and Europeans on the western coast. But invading in the interior has always been a fool's decision before the 19th century.

Because Malaria

Because there was literally nothing of worth that way, while in almost every other direction there were places that were worth focusing on.

Why didn't Rome invade Ireland/Scandinavia/Sahara
Why didn't China and Persia invade the Steppe

why did the chinese never invade north america

>why did Russia never invade the Arctic?

>did they fear the polar bear?

They were probably handily defeated but we're so embarrassed they didn't record it.

Haven't you heard the great battle of we wuz in the jungles of the Congo?

Morocco invaded Mali in the 16th century but it was such a hassle to keep that the sultan told his troops to retreat and let local berber tribes do whatever they wanted

The Europeans did after Berlin Congress 1885 and still regret to this day having done so.

Its too hard to penetrate. Even the British Empire struggled, and even then their territory was fleeting in the grand scheme of things. I don't think people realise how much of a death trap the interior of Africa is. And not because animals or anything like that, mostly because of exposure and disease.

That's the mystery though, the Mohammadans ONLY conquered the desert and left the negrolands to themselves.

Perhaps the sandfolk just really really love desert, which would explain why the expanded all the way to the (shithole) Tarim Basin.

More than that, imagine you're an explorer or merchant who has no idea how big the world actually is and you see the Sahara. What if that desert goes on forever? It sounds silly, but would have wanted to risk your life to find out?

Because they had no way of knowing "negrolands" even existed. Imagine you're an explorer or merchant trying to justify an expition to your sultan.

"I want to explore Africa."
"What the fuck is Africa?"
"Oh... Well, I want to lead an expedition that will probably be a suicide mission into the desert".
"Why?"
"Just because?"

You'd be laughed out of the emirate.

This. In addition, Africa had enormous amounts of mineral wealth, but it was difficult and expensive to extract. There was no way to justify trying to settle Africa.

Close, but not entirely accurate. Arabs knew about the interior and subsahara through merchants. Islam had also spread throughout East Africa and into the Congo. However it just wasn't worth trudging through jungle and Desert for when a lucrative trade network was already in place.

look into how the portuguese and spanish handled "colonizing" coast of West Africa and you will have an idea why no one would want to waste there time investigating the interior of Africa at all

>The Europeans did after Berlin Congress 1885 and still regret to this day

Not really.

They had maps and shit idiot. They just knew it wasn't worth the all the money to supply such a war.

they did

By the later Abbasids, they were a little too busy with their own infighting (plus the coming Crusades) to worry about what lay beyond the Sahara.

Notice they did colonize the Swahili coast.

>all that black booty flowing

It was full of niggers and malaria.

Those. Before the discovery of quinine and knowledge about the causes of insectborne disease any non-nigger visiting SSA was absolutely screwed.

basically the same reason why the romans never conquered arabia or went into sub saharan africa
>they have nice stuff
>but we have to cross a desert
>fuck it lets just have them keep giving us tribute fuck them

That map is shit, 40% of Nigeria is Muslim.

>Arab
>Same as Muslim

Not all muslims are arabs (in fact most aren't)...

>being this retarded

>the child does not know his father

Kek.
