Can someone give me a rundown on the differences between iota and byteball? They both utilize the tangle, but seem to have different goals. It seems like byteball wants to mostly replace bitcoin as a transfer of value, while iota wants to be the backbone of the "internet of things," and mostly be used for micropayments.

I looked into IOTA about a month ago because it has all those promising revolutionary concepts you guys also mention here. IOTA has been in the works for very long and is still sooo far away from any kind of adoption. The thing is, even if it becomes a big player in 5 years, I don't see industries buying your tokens for 1000x. It's still made for machine-machine interaction after all. And massively overvalued atm by being passed around among a small incestuous group of people with a trading bot in the slack channel.
Plus, the lead and some main devs there are huge jerks. Which has nothing to do with the tech, but it still amazed me since usually devs are either quiet or helpful towards newbies.
