He looks like my dads mexican landscaper, i shit you not.

EXACTLY like him

>Roman Empire

I have bad news for you user

IOUSTINIANOS MEXIKANOS.

They still spoke Latin at that time.

Byzantium is just a name given to the Eastern empire by later historians, the Byzantines were Romans to the end

And besides, Justinian was a native Latin speaker

No, he tried but it was a futile attempt. He didnt have the manpower or the economy to support it. if he manages to conquer all the former western roman empire, then what? is he going to supply the army stationed in the west with just the resources of the east, as great as they were? is he going to leave that much needed army in the west when there are looting niggers all around the east waiting for the opportunity to attack eastern territory? why does he want western Europe when its production isnt even enough to maintain a big population by itself?. He should have focused on north Africa and left it at that, at least that place had resources. And then the plague fucked whatever it was that he was trying to do.

No. He's arguably responsible for ruining the empire by overextending it.

His real contribution to the world is the consolidation and subsequent survival into the modern era of Roman law.

Was there any way for him to stop after the quick conquest of the Vandal kingdom and just leave the hard-nut-to-cruck OstroGothic Kingdom be?

J U S T

double my empire up

>Eastern

>Roman

>Empire

Summary : Greek Larpers WE WUZ ROMAN N SHIETTT

>the Byzantines were Romans to the end

t. Mehmet Ali Papadopoulos

Quick reminder that the "Greek" islands were Roman up until the 1900s

>WE WUZ IMPERIVM ROMANVM N SHEEIIIITTT

he might have if he didn't undercut himself by meddling in the italian campaign too much, which ended up really dragging it out, devastating italy, and making it a huge economic burden. the plague also gutting the empire certainly makes hard to evaluate his legacy. is admirable for swinging for the fences though, definitely thought big.

Posting post-turk """Greeks"""

>restore the Roman Empire
>by destroying it's core, the Italian peninsula

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gothic_War_(535–554)

>In Italy, the war was devastating to the urbanized society that was supported by a settled hinterland. The great cities of Rome and her allies were abandoned as Italy fell into a long period of decline. The impoverishment of Italy and the drain on the Empire made it impossible for the Byzantines to hold Italy. Imperial gains were fleeting: only three years after the death of Justinian, the mainland Italian territories fell into the hands of a Germanic tribe, the Lombards, leaving the Exarchate of Ravenna, a band of territory that stretched across central Italy to the Tyrrhenian Sea and south to Naples, along with parts of southern Italy, as the only remaining Imperial holdings.

Pic related, I can imagine Justinian saying: "We did it, Belisarius, we saved the Roman Empire"...

Greeks are less cucked by Turks than the rest of the Balkans. Venice and Genoa protected several islands from them.

...

THEY WERE TURK N SHIETT

>Venice and the Ottomans were enemies

Doge please.

Both Venice and Genoa crusaded against the Turks in 1396: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Nicopolis The other conflicts are too many to list.

when it was financially valuable

Nobody could have predicted the plague, and while Germanic migrations could be anticipated given historical precedent the *particular* of the Lombard invasion occurring exactly as soon as the reconquest of Italia ended could not be expected.

He tried to do his best with what he was given.

Now, he shouldn't have fallen for that harlot but hindsight is 20/20 there. Feminine wiles are hard to plan around.

Yes, they traded with them sometimes, so what? You gotta make money. If you didn't want Venice to rekt you in the Fourth Crusade maybe you shouldn't have massacred the Latin communities living there.

>when it was financially valuable
can be applied to pretty much every war in human history

THAT HAPPENED 30 FUCKING YEARS AGO THATS NO EXCUSE YOU JEWISH PIECE OF SHIT.

ayy, i forgot this part. So in other words justinian irrevocably destroyed the social and economic continuity of italy which had more or less had peace since the pax romana.

Threadly reminder that anyone who thinks the secret history is obvious bull probably hasn't read it.

There's no way to tell either way, but when you compare what's in it with the rest of Roman history, it isn't as ridiculous as is often made to sound.

t. History illiterates

The Ostrogoths had already conquered Italy beforehand, so he only let one Germanic tribe be displaced by another (admittedly less capable) Germanic tribe.

Anybody have the "After the Apocalypse" (EP 28) episode of The History of Byzantium podcast?

He wasted countless resources trying to restore a dead empire. Reviving a country is always a bad idea. That country/regime fell because it had major flaws and you should build something new instead of doing the same mistakes again. Justinian shoudl've focused on his existing lands rather than trying to bring back the old ones.

Yes, they were enemies. Learn some history, retard.
