Historically speaking, why does the working class always vote against their best interests?

...

Cultural motivation and perceived ease of class mobility.

Class is a spook

Republicans pander to their social conservatism.
Your image is a fallacy - A significant number of working class Republicans oppose GOP economic policy.

Ideology.

I think you are making the assumption that progressive policies are in the best interest of the working class.

While that might have been true in say, 1914, it is not necessarily true today

Their best interest in this case is Trump.

You don't think an expanded social safety net is in the best interest of the working class?

Remember that time people talked about the middle class

Neither do I

class is irrelevant when it comes to multi-racial, multi-ethnic countries, redditleftypol, im sorry - that class struggle thing? entirely based off race struggle - which is the default tribalism/collectivism of mankind, get back in the cuckshed with your forced spooky appropriation of tribalism

It just keeps the proletariat placated and docile while the Plutocrats loot the nation

Because they don't want to vote for nigger loving liberal cucks

because they don't want the demographics of their countries permanently altered by mass immigration, and until the left realizes this the working class will continue moving to the right.

That would depend on how its structured. IN any case expanding that is only a small part of the progressive agenda and not even the most important

So what then, marxist revolution? We're nowhere near the point in the west where that would improve things.

>expanding that is only a small part of the progressive agenda and not even the most important
No I'd argue its the most important, atleast in the US. It's certainly what Clinton talked about the most during the 2016 election, reducing the cost of healthcare, providing greater assistance to working class families without access to preschool.

because they dont. Immigrants are the biggest fucking compettitors. Also they move into their communities not i the rich ones which weakens social capital massively. its their neighborhoods that suffer the most due to immigration. i dont get why there arent so many modern xenophobic workers party ,because at this point it is totally justified

Talk is cheap.

Its also worth noting the working class in not a monolith. Some are in poverty while others are nearly middle class. Their economic interests are not the same

>talk is cheap
nice backpedal there, you said it wasn't a major part of their AGENDA

And the moment us working class Americans heard

>I will raise your taxes, cut the taxes of the wealthy, increase the cost of your already expensive healthcare, and bring in slave labor by the trainload to drive you out of business and into the poor house

every last one of us said "yeah, nah, fuck that" and voted for the guy who said he'd lower our taxes, lower the cost of our healthcare, and get rid of the slave labor that lowers the cost of our labor.

We do vote in our interests. We always have. It's just our interests are not YOUR interests.

Speaking as an American...

Because """""left-wing""""" movements have been increasingly co-opted by liberals who've shifted economic policy rightward & taken up """""progressive""""" social issues to try and hide that fact.

A good example of this is illegal immigration. The faux-left supports it for cheap exploitable labor and pretends they're humanitarians for doing so (look at all of the CEOs and business owners who were protesting Trump's rhetoric alongside their virtual slave laborers).

The right doesn't act in their interests either, but they hate abortion & gays, so their platform is at least more palatable to middle America.

tl;dr - Nobody really represents their interests, and the political landscape is dominated by distracting social issues while both sides move rightward economically.

It isn't, they talk a lot about those things and deliver a fraction of it,

Socio-cultural stances, religion, ethno-racial alignment...

But part of the issue is that, in Republican states, even though people earn less, the lack of regulation results in substantially lower cost of living, which means in real terms of purchasing power, they're wealthier under Republicans.

So it's not clear-cut "herp-derp, Replebicans are brainwashed suckers", they legit get something out of voting for them. Or at least, historically they have. Whether they will continue to benefit from voting Republican is largely dependant on how the future economy shapes up.

They don't want someone they don't like to benefit.

kind of hard in the face of republican obstructionism

roll

to what are you refering?

The left wing can't get left wing shit done.

They simply don't have enough votes to do it.

This is only the case in America, because Americans are stupid and subhuman
