Is the far-left's rising influence in academia just a meme or is there a basis in truth?

Is the far-left's rising influence in academia just a meme or is there a basis in truth?

Any insulated group of people will eventually form an echo chamber, in this case it's the people heading academia and progressivism

Compare and contrast the medias treatment of Trump vs. Obama and your question will be answered

It's a meme. They're center-left through and through - even when they read Marx and apply some of his insights they call themselves "Marxian" instead of Marxist.

What's happened isn't the rise of a new force, but the same old establishment, with the race and gender obsessions (and antipathy to class struggle) which have become Democratic Party orthodoxy in the US, taking an ultra-authoritarian swing.

Universities are way too embedded in the American power structure to act as a far-left force, but the American power structure no longer believes in democracy, if it ever did; they're more likely to warn of the "evils of populism" than to seriously grapple with the implications of 8 people having as much wealth as half the world's population.

The Left always manifests itself in the tattered robes of communism. From the Liberal love affair with Che to outright marxist conferences and social clubs.

Their slogans are communist in origin, their artwork is communist in origin.

Their ideas are communist in origin

Meme. There's always been academics who are into radical politics, but do so without themselves being radical, mostly so they can become progressive policy wonks. Y'know, they've got stuff to lose. The far left that sounds scariest, that puts out pamphlets detailing tactics and concepts for confronting the police, unless they're simply students then they're crust punks of some variety. Sometimes postmen, but that's rare.

>never addressed the post he repiled to and just preach what he thinks is happening

Right, you're saying they are centrists with a slight left bent but ultimately too invested in the system to bring about revolutionary change.

I got all that. The thing is, you don't need revolutionary change to bring about aspects of communism.

the far-left have had an extremely strong influence in academia for a century. In the interwar period some schools were said to be going against traditional values to promote foreigners and the only ones to protest would be very few bands of students.

PREACH YOUR BULLSHIT COMMUNISM ALL YOU WANT BUT STOP FANNING THE FLAMES OF RACE WAR WITH YOUR CONSTANT DEMONIZATION OF WHITE FUCKING MALES

EVEN CARL THE KEK SEES WHICH WAY THE WIND IS BLOWING

Depends. I briefly worked at a private liberal arts institution after completing my master's degree and it definitely felt more "liberal" in terms of both the student body and the faculty. The state school I graduated had a greater felt far more diverse, strangely enough. But I really don't think these impressions mean all that much in practical terms.

I am not even that user that you originally replied to but you have made a lot of statement or declarations without any attempt to explain or produce evidence

>The Left always manifests itself in the tattered robes of communism
>The thing is, you don't need revolutionary change to bring about aspects of communism.

Literally contributing nothing to the thread but your pure ideology

>you don't need revolutionary change to bring about aspects of communism.
Like what

>rising
It's been there for over 50 years.

one reason is that a state school teaches more than liberal arts. Minorities with the grades will usually end up in STEM, because that's what the family wants. They want to be the doctor that brings in the cash and sends money to the family back home.

he probably thinks advocating for anything resembling an active state (minus military spending of course) leads down the path to communism.

It's a fact and has 3 key reasons
>Frankfurt School and its influence on the humanities
>Vietnam War: young right wing men fought for their country while young leftists went to college instead and created the liberal echo chamber there
>Soviet Infiltration: Yuri Bezmenov wasn't lying when he said American professors were useful idiots and actually thought the USSR was successful

>go to cuny
>packed to the brim with far left marxist Jewish professors taking home $130k salaries
>hispanic, muslim, white and black kids from working class backgrounds have none of it, constantly having /pol/ tier debates in literature class about homosexuality and a woman's role in the home

Don't go to a uni packed to the brim with privileged and guilt ridden whitecucks.

CUNY
well I mean you should have already had an idea what you were in for before you enrolled

>if your not as much of a Marxist zealot as I am clearly you are counter-revolutionary who should be put against the wall

and this is why Marxism is such a blood-soaked ideology, the TRUE socialists kill the useful idiots once they take power, and since there is no such thing as a true socialist everybody dies.

Paying a tenth of the tuition you do only to get the same job?

>state school
Into the trash it goes goy

Its a meme.

You'll find all sorts of cunts in the Academe.

Literal Nazis?

I just asked for examples
I don't see how that means I want to execute you

You could have went to basically any other state school farther from the coast and paid the same tuition, but without typical new york academics.

You didn't ask me shit, I'm somebody else commenting on how Marxists are autistic scum with a penchant for murder.

>like what
Is the problem that I did not include a question mark?
Or is it the case that you misquoted? Could you not have simply lead with that fact?

A more violent, vindictive, authoritarian version is taking hold at the student level. Leftism (not actual liberalism) is pretty hivemind-prone in general, but until recently it's been more "annoying lectures" than "demands and threats." Academia's issue is trying to cater to those who espouse these veiws because, being lefties, they can't be wrong.

>ask for examples
>suddenly get a tirade of how socialists kill useful idiots once they taken over
Like when?

It has a basis in truths so far that it isn't the academia that's leftist, but anti-intellectualism being rightist.

The far left has always controlled academia for a long time
