Why was the Seven years war not considered the First World War?

Why was the Seven years war not considered the First World War?

Because there weren't any Asian countries (especially Japan) had participated.

Because there were other world wars prior to it

Because it did not contain every major power

The Ottomans and Poles weren't involved

What a dumb system, by this logic there hasn't been a world war because neither ww1 or 2 involved south america.

There was fighting in India.

>neither ww1 or 2 involved south america.

Brazil was in both wars and in both wars there were naval battles in the Falklands and around the South American Atlantic coasts.

>Because it did not contain every major power
>The Ottomans and Poles weren't involved

Then why wasn't this one the first world war?
It has the Ottomans and Poles

>involved every great power of the time except China
>main fighting in Europe but major campaigns also in North Africa and the Levant
>minor campaigns and naval battles in North America
>major social and political effects

Huh.

Qing weren't involved. it's fair to call them a major power in 1790.

I understand it's arbitrary but this is just the generally accepted reason.

The use of the term 'World War' is only used in conjunction of the first and second. People didn't call it The 1st World War at first, but rather to represent the connection between it and the second.

>because neither ww1 or 2 involved south america.
Yes they did, idiot.

Because it wasn't total war. The general population was barely involved. Berlin was captured twice but wasn't sacked once during the war.

So, the only reason WW1 is a WW is because the German army massacred Belgian civilians en mass?

That the whole population of all nations involved felt the full effects of war with heavy rationing and conscription.

Honestly the American Revolutionary War should be considered the First World War.

It involved even less nations than the Seven Years War

True I guess.

Why is Ireland never colored in on maps of WW1?

Ireland did not gain independence until 1922, thus was part of the UK

Because only the Americas and Europe were involved.

You know, Asia, Africa, and Australia do exist right?

But it is colored on that one. It's colored on all of them except ww2 where it's just Northern Ireland.

>what is India

Oh wow a few colonies took place, that a-means the whole continent is taking part!

>Entire world gradually dragged into conflict
It's going to happen again, but worse, isn't it?

Nah, it's 2017 we're civil now. Gender is now known to be a spectrum

>A bunch of shithole countries declare war on the 11th for so America senpai will notice them
>don't spend any money, send any soldiers or otherwise involve themselves physically

I really doubt Hitler have a shit that Honduras had 'declared war but we're not going to actually fight you'.
