While Marcuse's influence on the new left of the time is certainly there, one has to realize that he was an outlier in the frankfurt school, one has to realize that his work does not have great continuity with the rest of its output, as well as his preferred social groupings. Marcuse, after all, worked with the student left, instead of calling the cops on them.
