Daily reminder that at this time China (an actual nation state at the time (earliest one)) had a huge standardized state bureaucracy, and vast infrastructure, that could have spread Christianity quicker than Rome could have.
Chinese script works in the way that each character symbolizes a word, meaning that even if you can't speak Chinese you can still read it. This would help enormously with spreading the religion.
China had woodblock printing before 200AD, which would obviously make mass producing bibles in the Archaic period much more easy.
It is arguable that if what Augistine proposed was true (it isn't), then God made a mistake in not picking China.
Clearly and the fact that God is benevolent shows us that Autistine's whole argument is a fucking shambles.

This. Few people have been so willing to absorb foreigners into their power structure and it brings the benefit of stability.
Combine that manpower pool with the Roman national character which was "total victory or bust" that allowed them to roll with the punches of men like Hannibal, and they were unstoppable.
