meh. gold is boring af. I bought 1300 ounces of silver a couple years ago and regret it. Maybe if i have millions of dollars burning a hole in my pocket i'd buy some gold but otherwise not worth it. I probably wont break even with my silver for another 5 years. I imagine the "mystical" aura of precious metals wears off. It has with me for silver for the most part.

I mined some gold once or twice, bought a 2.5" keene dredge and got some flakes, then sold the dredge and got myself a 5" proline and got some more flakes. After all the wetsuits, replacement hoses and seals, gas and diesel and food, probably spent $3500-$4000 to get about $30 worth of gold. Hard to put a price on adventures though.

No plans on selling it any time soon. I wouldn't be tempted until like $50 ounce.
I'm sure it'll breakout eventually but I'm not expecting anything very soon or very amazing. I think precious metal stocks would be a better buy right now they started coming out of a long term downtrend last year but the uptrend its probably still just getting started. Lots of them have 2 or 3x already from last year with lots of room still to their previous ath's

I never heard about the cern thing so dont know anything about it. But I do know that there are a few major banks that have sold ridiculously large numbers of silver contracts. They've sold so many contracts they have a lot of reasons to try to do everything they can to keep it down. If we where to see a big enough rise then we could see a big short squeeze.

So yeah, californium is more valuable per gram than LSD but still. I don't know about synthesis of californium/how hard it is to aquire, but LSD is more accessible in either case and it's certainly on the list of most valuable things by weight.
